Just got an idea from a friend regarding my CWB Ride Tank. He suggested I apply Rain-X to the bottom of the board. I want to try this to get more speed out of it. Has anyone tried this before?

It might help. I've applied surf nano to my boards and it definitely made them faster.
But I've ridden the Ride and it's unfortunately just a slow board -

Yeah I've used Surf Nano also, with some success. There are two schools of thought on that. Hydrophobic like Rain-x but the surf nano products seem to be better suited to boards and Rain-x to glass and the hydrophilic like "secret weapon". Neither will make a crappy board into a good board, IMO as TSW notes, above.. I've used the Nano Surf and that works on boards with a gloss finish, like Inland Surfers, was negligible on any textured surface. I'm not sure if the secret weapon product is still available, but I couldn't tell the difference on anything I tried it on.

Both manufacturers claim to be "the" answer Rain-X won't hurt the Ride to try it and it will eventually wear off.

Just do not wax the bottom of the board. It'll make the board sooooo slow.

I did the wax experiment two summers ago. I ended up burnishing the bottom of my LF Venture with 1600 grit wet or dry. That made the board faster than stock, but not fast enough for me.

Good luck.

I have some surf nano Mario. If I see you at CMS on Saturday, I will give you some.
