I just picked up a used fiberglass step and want to do a one time clean up. Its not in bad condition, but could look better. Its a old hull Nautique swim step so it has the 7 Sano pads inlayed. Do you think it would be worth trying to buff out some of the scratches and laying a coat of wax? if so, any tricks with working around the pads. How do I get the water spots off the chrome trim?

I was thinking about powder coating the chrome trim, but I I would be worried it may chip or crack from any flex. Anyone seen this done?
