Anyone have any suggestions for products to remove silicone safely from gelcoat? I need to remove some silicone under the rubrail of the boat, started last night and it is going quite slow. Using a plastic puddy scraper, which works just extremely time consuming. Thought there might be some product available to help loosen up the silicone and speed up the process without damaging the gelcoat.

Also, when I reapply the silicone what would be a good one to use for under the rubrail? Considering 3M Clear.

Thanks for any help.....

Silicone is about the same from anyone so use whatever you want.
You might want to run a razor along the edge of the rub rail to cut the silicone that's working under the excess that is visible. Then just rubbing it with your thumb and peeling what you can by hand is effective if it's not too much. I've not found a cleaner or solvent that is very effective.

I'm constantly peeling the silicone out from the rubrail of my boat. I hate the stuff. The razorblade sounds like a good idea.
