This is one of those threads that turns into people naming a bunch of bands that no one has ever heard of.

My suggestion? Go to hypem.com (hype machine). They have a ton of indie (the type of label, not the genre, although that's there too) stuff that's sick. There are a ton of mashups, a lot of which are really good. Then download freemusiczilla and run that as you play the songs on hype machine and voila, you'll have a ton of sick new music your friends won't have heard that you can introduce to them on the boat.

Or some one bashing their choice of music or bands.

Excellent post, Nick. I'm on it.

Lately I've really been into that feel good Indie Electronic music like MGMT and Empire of The Sun. Everyone seems to like it.

benjamin, have you heard of "yeasayers"? There was an article about them on Alliance the other day, very similar sound to Passion Pit.
I have pretty similar taste to the other ben (coincidence?), I like Black Moth Super Rainbow (electronic), Silversun Pickups (indie/alternative), Metric, and then the usual Biggie, Jay Z, Kid Cudi kinda thing.

I just listened to the yeasayers...I like them! I like all the bands you listed, especially Metric. Have you heard Groove Armada's new track? The Chorus reminds me of MGMT and Empire of the Sun

I discover most of my music from the Indie Electronic station on slacker.com

We are almost there. MGMT is the last one I recognize, and that is only because it was in a video last year.

Jeremy

Then you know nothing about music.

Stop the hate posting, I was just asking for some new music it's not a big deal.

Where is the hate? Seemed like a fairly neutral statement to me.
Thanks for the heads up benjamin.

I don't know about you guys, but that new MGMT is hard to listen too for me.

Thanks for the new names guys. I'll check them out tonight.

I agree J-Rod. Their first album was incredible, this new one, not so much. I have listened to the first 30 seconds of each song, I can't even listen to the entire things they drive me so crazy.

"Then you know nothing about music."

Just to make sure I'm clear, so because I have not heard of a certain band, then I know nothing about music?
