Has anybody on WW gone from the Covin to the Viva? I'm looking at making the switch (since my Covin got ganked). Just curious if there's a huge difference between the two. I liked the speed of the Covin so i figured the Viva will be solid replacement.

Just wanted to make sure there wasnt any huge change from the two.

very different boards. Viva's quick - but very loose - nothing like the covin

The Covin is a great setup, definitely liked mine before I broke it. Both the Viva and the Covin share a continuous rocker line, which your already used to, however, the Viva has a more kink in the rocker, and a more aggressive boot to it, which definitely could contribute to some bigger and more vertically arcing airs. The variable rail, rounded in the belly and sharpening off to the tail gives a bit more playfulness when riding around that the Covin was missing with it's sharp edges all the way through, but it will still dig in and give you that same, if not more, aggressive cut on edge than the Covin. The board is also lighter than the Covin. All in all, picture a more forgiving, lighter, more aggressive Covin with bigger boot and you've got the Viva. Not to mention that they didn't change the shape at all for 2010, so you can find 09's, which I ride, for a killer deal on clearance. Hope this helped, if you have any questions, feel free to PM me! All the changes they made were all great improvements.

I rode the covin and then the viva when it changed. I think that they overall are very similar in the ride, but there are some changes. The covin was totally locked in and you really had to try to break it loose. The viva you can break loose much easier, but I would not consider it a loose board. I think that the pop it pretty much the same on regular wakes. When you ride behind a big wake the viva really shows its changes. There is a ton more pop off the large wakes, but it is not straight up, but the up and out pop that the covin had. Landings are pretty similar, but maybe a bit more forgiving. You can ride away from a sketched out a landing a little easier without catching an edge with the new shape.

I got my new Viva after riding the covins for a while and went back to the covins. Covins is the best Ronix board in my mind so far, but that's my two cents for my riding style. I like to go very fast and smack that wake at high speeds. I also rode the Mana for a few months and still went back to my covins. I can't get away from my Covins, it's just too good to me. :-)

same here^^^^^ the Viva feels nothing like the covn. I have a brand new Viva sittin in my garage, but since i broke my covin - im SOL. Had to jump back on my old LF trip - to get that super fast, solid edge ride. Have no use for the Viva - and now gotta look for a new ride once again.

So should I go with the Sintered Base even if I never hit a rail or box? Catelog says it adds durability without loosing any glide speed..... So would it be worth it for the added durability?
