Buying audio/video cables at a brick and mortar store is the biggest consumer rip-off since the pet rock.
High-speed HDMI Category 2 1.3a rated cable will give you the exact same performance as the Firewire or Monster rip-offs at Best Buy. That $100+ cable at Best Buy is less than $6 here: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024008&p_i d=4956&seq=1&format=2
You have to get 4' or longer for Cat2 rated cable.
DON'T EVER buy an HDMI cable from Best Buy again!
If I recall correctly, there are currently four types of HDMI cables on the market today. All are backward-compatible. The high-speed cat 2 (1.3a) cable can transmit a 1080p signal for at least 7.5 meters (25 feet).
