Nikon comes with 18-55 and a 55-200 lens, carry bag, 4GB SD card among obvious other acc. for $649. 3" screen

Canon comes with 18-55 and 75-300 lens for $669. 2.5" screen.

They are both 10.1 MP and seem to be pretty comparable. Looking for any reviews you may have and lean me to one or the other. It will be an anniversary present for my wife. Looking for something to take really good pictures without breaking the bank and don't really need the professional stuff. At least not right now. This will be her first DSLR camera.

Open to other suggestions but would like to stay in this price range I think...

Skip the double lens kits and get an 18-200mmVR. Anything more than that and you are in breaking the bank territory.

Don't forget that you will "need" lightroom (or aperture) as well to process your photo's. It kills me to see people spend $700-800 on a DSLR and then not get the processing software. Lightrooms is EZ to use and makes a world of difference.
