i recently purchased a canon gl-1 camcorder. it is my first camera, if anyone has any tips for me they would be appreciated.

I think you have to set the white point with every start up, pretty happy with my GL2

oh ya, never use the rewind!!!!!
Canons break real easy..buy a cheap camera
for capture and rewinding. I got a JVC mini dv for $150. with a three year plan from frys..

do u use that camera when importing your video onto your computer also??

yes, I also capture the full tape with 'capture now'
as final cut ruined a camera trying to jog back and forth looking for in and out points..
