I just bought the boat recently, and was changing the oil. So I was wondering the previous owner didn't use synthetic. So I was at Walmart and was torn between Rotella 15W-45 and Mobil 1 15W-50 syn. I bought the Mobil 1 should I take it back and go with the Rotella? Thanks

the Synthetic will be fine but DO NOT try to extend the change intervals. Change the oil every 50 hours and you will be fine.

It depends on the boat/engine. The older ones are almost requierd to use a zinc additive oild for reducing wear on the flat tappet cam. That is a big factor.
