Does anyone know of any situation where a helmet may have caused an injury insted of preventing one?

I guess I could give more details. 8 year old girls. Just starting to go wake to wake. More than likely I will get them one...........just the additional neck strain a helmet may cause? So anyone with kids using them ever have any problems?

little girls should be the only ones wearing wakeboard helmets (rail riders not included)...

It will save ear drums. Andy you wrong on the round 546,984,741,123,548,613 just thought you might want to keep it right

Exactly, it will save your ear drums. I always wear one and haven't had a painful head impact since I started wearing one over two years ago. I would happily take a season off than ride without a helmet.

It will keep the board from hitting her head. Little kids are more flexible than you realize. My daughter has worn one for 3 years and never had an issue with neck strain and has never once complained about feeling a tug when she hits the water. I would only get the Pro-Tec Ace Wake with the extra piece that cradles the back of the head.

Jarabacoa..........Thanks. This is the type of info I was looking for. I also agree on the Pro-Tec.

do a search for "helmet neck" and all the past discussions on this subject should come up. As long as the fit of the helmet is really good on the girls I wouldn't worry too much.

The Pro-Tec Ace wake is a great suggestion. If they dont like the fit of that I would have them look at the Pro-Tec classic skate helmet, alot of the smaller kids prefere the fit of that on their heads.
