I am looking to purchase this house (the untitled placemark in the image below), but want to make sure I have room for a boat. I really have no idea how tough it is to back a tandem axle and maneuver it. I used to have to back into a driveway at a 90 degree turn on a busy street, but the trailer was single axle and only 17 feet. Problem with this place is a lot of times there are cars parked in the street at night, and that would make things much more difficult to get it in the driveway. Once it's in the driveway, there's no problem. Do you think I could only fit a single cause then I could push the trailer around after unhitching, thereby turning it in the street? Any ideas or experiences? I know this is a tough question.

i think it should be pretty easy, putting my boat is my driveway is just less of a nightmare but i do it. i live on a dead end at the end so i have to back down all the way and then jacknife the trailer into the driveway and i have a tandem, it takes practice but youll figure it out

opening of the driveway looks wide enough to give you a good angle to get it in . Shouldnt be to bad

i can put my tandem in the garage with 2 cars in the driveway and nothing but curbs at the end. takes a little practice.

Its funny when you've had a full day at the lake and a few beverages.

With that wide of an opening you should be good

Okay, this is what it will look like with cars in front. Worse case scenario if I am coming from the North I should be able to pull it in going forward, then pull the truck in the right side of the garage and leave the boat in the driveway, just in front of the garage. It's a duplex so the tenants have the left side of the garage and the spot in front of it.

That could produce a slight problem

You could contact the city and tell them you're having problems getting in and out of your driveway because of the cars lining the road I had to do that when I first moved into my new house

That is going to be impossible withoutout coming dangerously close to the cars parked in the street. You could always have them move the cars out of your way when you needed them to, that would be a pain in the butt.

I think you can make it work. Pull your truck up into the person across the street to the south's driveway and you should be able to start with a pretty good angle and not have to jack knife it too bad.

Todd, I had to call the city to get my neighbors across from me to stop parking in the street but in my neighborhood we have covenant and parking in the street isn't allowed so in my case it worked you should check and see if your neighborhood has a covenant like that

A front mounted hitch receiver will allow you to put your truck and trailer in tight places with ease. This may work well for your particular case where the swing of the truck is more of an issue than the boat.

^^^^ There's your answer. Had one on an old truck, worked like a forklift in a warehouse.

I don't see a problem. In fact I see lots of options.

If you were a little friendly with the cross the street neighbor then you could do this:

Approach from the bottom of the picture. Pull just past your driveway then into the driveway across the street. Now your boat is pointed at your driveway. Back it in.
