When going for the frontroll do you hit it opposite the tantrum by letting go with your hand and squaring to the wake, or do you hold on with both hands and thron it like that.

I just recently started landing this trick, so Ill try to help you the best I can.. You deffinetly dont square up, or let go with one hand on the take off. You need to ride all the way to the top of the wake ( Im telling you, the longer you can wait the better) tucking the handle in and throwing your shoulders forward. then 3/4 way through the trick, let go with your back hand, and pull the handle to your lead hip. I started off trying to get the same trip as a tant, but it makes for some funky falls. hope that helps

Brandon, I also found that I was able to get alot better trip whenever I would actually lean over the wake as I was comming in. Here is a video of the other day when I started landing them. http://www.blackwaterrydas.com/scarecrow.htm

"I would actually lean over the wake as I was comming in" I'm glad this worked for you lyle, but Brandon, I wouldn't suggest doing this. Breaking at the waist will cause you to lose line tension which is needed to rotate.

If you are having trouble with rotation, you could always let go with your backhand and throw your head down towards your back knee. By throwing your head down towards your back knee it will help keep tention on the line through the trick and rotate you much faster.

Good luck.

lyle, thanks for the advice. This makes so much more sense now, I was trying it like a tanny. No wonder my falls hurt so bad.

Don't break at the waist, and try to over rotate as you are upside down. This will help you to land on your toes making it easier to stomp.

garrett no problem man, when I used to try it like that, the wake would somehow grab my board and sometimes pop on of my feet outta the binding. Thats a scarey feeling doing a half flip with one in and one out..

I agree, dont break at the waist, when I say lean over the wake, what I mean is stand tall with your weight a little more on your front lead foot...

"...more weight on your front foot..." --> excellent advise!

i also just figured out that if i really exaggerate my tuck (even though i think i'm tucking tight)....if i exaggerate it, the rotation is much easier.
