You are probably taking off early. Make sure that you are doing a tantrum before you throw the rope over your head. Make sure that the first move with your head is straight back. You don't want to look over your back shoulder off the wake. Sometimes taking a little more aggressive cut can help too.

The falls can be rough if you get caught up because you have momentum of the rope pile driving you into the water. I used to do them all the time but havent done one in a while mostly because i don't really like the feeling. If you have a tramp that is your best bet. If you are willing to take the falls you can land it relatively quickly. Later, Mike}

i take a edge like a tantrum but i cut a little bit harder before i level off to throw the trick

does that make sence?

It could make sense, depending on your riding. That's actually what I needed to do when I was learning. Some people don't have any trouble with timing when they learn it and can do it with an easy cut. If you are over-rotating, that is a better sign than if you are under-rotating. Under-rotating is definitely a timing problem and you need to wait longer.
