I just got my Ronix one a week ago and have rode it about 4 times and i took off my bindings the other day and noticed that arround almost all the inserts there were little spider cracks and one crack about 5in long... I bought it a scheels and they said i could come and just swap it out... my camera is messed up so i could only get one good pic of the big crack ill try to get more up this week...Upload

My friend has Ronix one and has the same problem. Has ridden it maybe 15-20 times and has the same spider cracks round the inserts.

I've heard this is a common problem but doesn't effect your ride. I just rented it and the rental had some spider cracks around the inserts as well.

it may not affect anything, but i didnt pay 300 and something dollars for a board to get spider cracks... Mine hasnt started cracking yet... knock on wood

They wont cover it I already tried because it happened to my one. Im pretty diapointed with ronix. I agree with the the i didnt pay 400 dollars to get cracks all in on my board.

Any cracks on any of the other Ronix boards. The
Covin, Coy, or Frontier? Just wondering if this is isolated to the One board.

Joe who did you buy your board from? Your dealer should cover it. Im suprised that they wont cover your board.

- and no i dont think any of the other boards have cracked.

I have heard of this problem and have asked some people about it, its not the board it self cracking, its just a clear coat that they put on their boards, Ronix is aware of the problem and they have fixed it, it was just a problem early on, and not for that many boards. It should be a rare problem, well lets hope at least.

Ronix not standing behind their product and exchanging them out is absolutely horrible. I have heard nothing but great things about the board but have no motivation to buy one with the service I am hearing about. Its sad, but such a young company has to realize that their future success or lack there of, hinges on their customer service. I hope this gets taken care of and if it does let me know.

I have the same crack in mine but performance wont exchange it out for me I tryed already. It just shows ronix isn't as good with there company with boards or bindings as cwb or LF. Hopefully they get this stuff fixed because I cant wait tilll Parks comes out with his pro model should be interesting to see but I hope they do a better job with the making of there boards or they wont be getting my business but who cares I'm just one person but still its fuc*ed up

Is it Ronix not standing behind their product or is it the Dealer not wanting to swap out the board and deal with the warranty claim?

I would call Ronix and find out straight from the horse's mouth what their policy is on spider cracks.

These are the types of things that happen when companies try to get their products to the market to quickly. They don't do enought research and development and you end up with faulty products. I know the Ronix guys have been in the business for a long time, you think they wouldn't be having these problems. Whoever said that spider cracks aren't a major issue is wrong. Ask any experienced boat repairman, he will tell you that spider cracks in the gelcoat normally mean spider cracks in the fiberglass underneath. Unless you dig down to the root of the problem and fix it, the crack will just keep growing. Another problem with spider cracking is that water is going to seap(SP?) into the cracks and start a delaminating process that will cause even more problems to the issue. Sorry, but they are screwing themselves over if they don't warranty those boards.

it has to be a problem with just the one. cuz i havent heard any problems with the other models. I think it is just dealers who are not standing by this stuff...Hyperlite always stood by their stuff, and ronix has the same owners... so, i dunno. If they wont cover it, ride it more i guess and when it gets really bad, then go back. You can't ride a delaminated board...

This post reminded me of all the posts of so many people praising Ronix and saying how much better it is than anything else on the market, before they even had a lot of gear delivered to the dealers. I'm sure this is something that will have to be addressed soon, due to all the other manufacturers warranty reputations...

i dont think people thought they were going to be the best neccessarily...but when some of the best wakeboarders in the world (guys and girl who are going to be legends of the sport) are going to come out with a new pro model board, the hype is going to be pretty huge. Just like the hype over Rusty, Lyman, Murray, and JD's new boards is already pretty big... Also a lot of people are ready for the new marius and absolute. Its all hype, and in the end we find out if the products live up to it.

RONIX ARE STANDING BEHIND THE BOARDS Like mentioned above Ronix knows about the problem and it was an issue with the UV laminate in the top sheet of the early boards. JOE has been going thread to thread because he is mad at whoever he bought it from, RONIX is a manufacturer, not a distributer, RONIX has been taking care of them and the people supporting them.


Spider cracks in the top sheet wont do anything but if you are un-happy about it Ronix is more than willing to take care of you.

All of RONIX has been in this industry a very long time and are more than knowledgable about their products and more importantly there customers.

Are you kidding me? I just said this in an earlier post. Yes, spider cracks WILL do something to your board. Sure you might not notice it as first, but water will seep under the laminate and that trapt water will definately damage the board over time.

I contacted RONIX today and what Jeff said is 100% accurate.

RONIX is a new compay, but they are not new to the game. The main players helped start this industry.

It's going to be scratched up from board racks and sliders, and faded from the sun by the end of the summer anyway. Who cares abot some little cracks you can hardly see.

But, if you were smart, you would wait and warranty it right before the 2008s come out.

I posted this just so ppl could see that they actually did crack, and that people are not just making it up (cause thats what i thought before i bought the board) and after riding the board there is no way that im gonna let a few little cracks make me think any worse about the board which is the best board i have ever rode..... ive rode every company so far and every company had its flaws and thats why they have warranties...

ohh yea, I forgot to mention, Ronix has a limited LIFETIME warranty on their boards, so it's no big deal, the warranty will be there for your down the road. And by the looks of things, RONIX will be around for a long, long time.

I crack up reading these threads sometimes. Hell, I just read a thread that implied Hyperlite closed toes dry faster than Ronix closed toes so they won't get funky when left wet for extended periods of time...are you serious!?!? I'm all for sharing the pros and cons of different equipment, but I think sometimes people get too wrapped up in brand loyalty and loose track of the big picture. Just my humble opinion...

I have contacted ronix they will not cover the board I have been emailing them back and forth and STILL no Proggress. So Ronix is definitley not covering it. i bought the board form Ambush which is a really respected shop and ive brought hyperlites and liquid forces back to them and they have covered it. ITS NOT THE SHOP ITS RONIX! So jeff you heard me ramble on but has this happened to you? or Are you even a ronix owner?

take it to another shop maybe then joe or just buy a new board if your so angry at ronix. i personally believe you must have slider damage or something else wrong with your board that voids your warranty allowing ronix to not cover it. also trashing companies on online forums gets you no where but we all get a kick out of it

i forgot to say this but call them i have learned that in this industry emailing the company will get you no where

Joe, PM me with the particulars and I will make some calls to some people I know and see what I can work out for you. As long as you didn't drop the board on the ground, bash a slider, or something else that clearly voids the warranty, RONIX should cover it.

Joe, before I even posted this message I called Ronix to make sure I wasn't going to get called out on this and they told me the ONE boards with the spider cracks are being are being warrantied and replaces. So you must have more to your story, sorry its not working out for you. I do own a ONE myself along with a couple other boards, and have a garage full of broken ones from multiple companies.

Spider cracks in the UV lamanent top sheet mean that they there isn't cracks in the board but simply the top sheet there fore water is still not able to get inside the board. Gel coat on a boat is just a little bit different then how wakeboards are made.

theres nothing more i rode the board 4 times.. cracks... sent it to buywake...wouldnt replace i have cracks all over my one, i was contacted though and they said there going to send me a new one so thats good, but it took a lot of effort for me to get one. But the whole crack thing shouldnt have happened in the first place im not worried all that much about delam just the fact that i spent 400 dollars on somthing that cracked withn 4 times of riding it.

Your participating in an extreme sport, sometimes the ware and tear on some of the materials isn't quite what they thought. Ronix knows you spent $400 on it that is why they personally are quick to help you.

Earlier you said you bought it from Ambush but now your saying Buy wake, so that is a little un-clear, either way, online shops don't have as good a relationships with their customers as do pro shops. Thats how I knew your board would be taken care of, I talked to my pro shop and they told me yea, "they already knew about it and if I saw any problems bring it straight to them for a knew one." Either way it looks like in the end RONIX IS TAKING CARE OF YOU

So you should stop telling everyone that they aren't and be stoked your not stuck with a company that didn't know what they were doing and didn't expect any issues in there completely knew line of products.

I had the same problem with my Ronix One. Actually still have the problem. I spoke to a Ronix rep and he said to just ride it till it breaks and then warranty it. I know it's just a superficial crack and all but I didn't spend $420 (tax) on a board for it to crack after only about 2 months of actual usage. Like someone else said though, may just wait for the 2008 models to come out and warranty it then...

Jeff i just was covered today! finally after about 3 weeks of calling people! Thats why i was complaining. I wouldnt call that awesome. And if you didnt know Buywake is run by Ambush. Ambush used to be my local store when i lived in atlanta and since i just moved to dallas i supportd them through their online shop. let me reinforce that i personally know everyone that works at ambush sooo nice try i do have a good relationship with who i bought from. Im still not STOKED on my new ronix cause it took me 3 weeks to get some responses

The problem I see here is once again the lack of pictures. So one person posted a pic. It's valid. But then you have others complaining about Ronix gear without pic. I am starting to think their damage does not exist. Or they are afraid to post pics because they know they were hitting kickers and or sliders and they damaged their gear on those. Thus voiding the warranty. they do not want to be called out on the carpet. I think I will call Ronix and direct them to this thread so they can investigate the claims. Ronix does not need bad PR when they are trying to make a go at it. And false information is not good for anyone's image. Like others have stated....they have been in the business longer than anyone else. They know what they are doing. They support quality products. they would not put out bad product. And if they have an issue they would resolve it immediately. Support your favorite brands, but do not bash others in the process.

Scott, im not making this up im sorry your butt buddies with ronix but u ride a frontier not a one. The board is cracked and they are now replacing it so there was obviously somthing wrong.i didnt hit any kickers or rails, the board broke with wake riding. You can even call ronix and ask if im making this up because i know you probably will. And ronix is my favorite company im just disapointed with the build quality. Sorry if i seem mad but im sick of you trying to call me out on somthing that actually happened. Just because it has not happened to you doesnt mean it hasnt happened to anyone else

the reason why ppl are not posting pics is because like you see in the pic above its hard to see the cracks in the pics... I never hit kickers and from what joe said he didnt either rode my board a few times took the bindings off and there were cracks all over.. not a big deal cause its in the clear coat and will not affect riding but who wants to ride arround with cracks all over there new board.... New product will always have minor problems they fixed the problem and thats great ill get a new board and be happy, im just getting sick of having to send my new gear back cause it wont hold up... had the same type of thing happen to me last year with hyperlite i'm on my 3rd pair of murrays and on my 2nd pair of eras all in less than a season...
Ronix is a great company and i will back them thru and thru but i just wanted ppl to see that there actually cracking and ppl arnt just makin it up

Thank you for posting the information regarding your damaged board. I feel it is good for others to read and make their own conscious decision as to what is truth, and what type of quality a company may offer. I respect those on this board enough to trust they have had problems. All these people spraying about "post pics" and blah blah will turn right around and whine when they have their own problems. Scott you seem pretty old, why do you still sound like a tattle-tale?

Wow- Why are all these brand new Ronix dudes so defensive?? You all just bought your sweet new Ronix boards 2 months ago and now they talk like they've ridden a Ronix their whole life. I'm glad Herb Obrien took the initiative to make a new, fresh company but pardon me- you all are a bunch of band-wagon jumpers. If this was last summer, when ronix was just a rumor going around boardshops, every Ronix rider was reppin' Liquid Force or Hyperlite or CWB hard, now everyone thinks those companies are second class or something.

Sorry to rant but just because the company is just starting doesn't mean all of us can't use this forum to inform the rest of the wakeboard world what we have expierenced with any defects in their equipment people spend a lot of money on. This is just my opinion and don't intend to offend anyone, it is just what I have noticed.

I ride ronix and i love my board. Im not on here bashing any other company or saying they are second best. Everyone has their opinion on a company... Ronix obviously has a problem and only time will show what happens.... I havent had any problems but we will see what happens.

Once again, over time spider cracks will cause a problem. Stop telling yourself that they wont. Water seeps up under those cracks and over time will soften your board. Ask any fiberglass repairman about spider cracks.

your probobly talkin about me mike. you think i just kinda jumped on the bandwagon, the LF watson's a sweet board, the hyperlite murray and 3Ds are pretty sick, the cwb absolute and pure are sick as well. ronix has some great ideas too. ever ride the covin? one? frontier? if there is anything ive learned its dont take up an opinion on a board or company till you ride it. ronix has problems. they are a brand new company. is there anyone on here that remembers when any of the other board companies started out? hyperlite? liquid force? cwb? [i dont] but i bet they had problems like these too, do they still have them? no. case. point.

I'm not calling you a liar or for even that any ronix rider a liar- but the dudes out there who deny any defects in a board that just got released just because theirs hasnt had the same thing happen to them is lame. Sorry if I pissed any you off. This argument has been going on for months on another thread with the same people. "Scott you seem pretty old, why do you still sound like a tattle-tale?" A-Dub....your ridiculous.(check A-Dubs previous comments on thread below) Let me re phrase that. I was saying that I should inform Ronix to read the thread so they can investigate the issues that people are having with their boards. It's called quality control. I would want that input if I owned the company. I know what it is like to start and own a company and there is always the competition starting bad PR to hurt your chances in the market. Not saying that is what is happening here, but then again you never know. It is like that old rumor about the rat getting cooked with the chicken at KFC. Ended up being bad PR from the competitor. Joe...give me a break.....butt buddies with Ronix..nice.. FYI I do not work for Ronix, I do not get a paycheck from Ronix, I bought my gear just like the rest of you. I own four Hyperlites, two liquid Force and now two Ronix boards. And soon I am going to give CWB transcend a ride. I am not hell bent on ripping apart any company. Just give ALL companies a fair shake to see what works the best for me. Mike K. about two months ago the same guys were ripping apart Ronix on another thread. It is getting old hearing the whiners!

yea scott its no big deal my board is breaking your right. But dont you ride a frontier? Those are not cracking and have no problems so you have got it made. But for the people that bought the first ones this is a major isssue so im sorry you had experience with bad pr but that doesnt mean we shouldnt adress this problem.

McDonalds first day of buinsess was awful, they had trouble selling hamburgers because you had to come up to the window and order but everyone was expecting a carhop.

Now mcdonalds is the largest fast food chain in the world

you cant expect a new company to be perfect from the get go.

after Ronix works out their kinks im sure they will be one of the industry leaders. Paul and Danny have good heads on their shoulders and know more about the industry than most of us could ever dream of.

i vote we just sit back and let everything unfold

Scott, i just noticed you said i was WHINING! Are You Kidding me i have a right to complain my brand new board started cracking after 4 runs. You are so wrapped up with your love for your frontier that you think that i am an enemy of ronix. I mean come on my board broke and i posted up then people called me a liar and accused me of working for a different company. i was letting yall know what was going on with my board. so im sorry im complaining about my new board that broke but i honestly hope your frontier breaks so you will have to deal with it.

Joe man thats not cool, im really sorry your board cracked and messed up, and Ronix should deal with that, get their crap together and get a you a new board.

But dont wish the same misfortune upon another wakeboarder, thats not right, its just down right dirty.

and there are way better ways to get your point across than exploding and hoping someone elses board cracks and breaks.

Sorry Joe. I was not trying to direct that at anyone specific. Thats all I am going to say, because if I say anything more, it will get mis understood. I will not state any personal opinions on here again. So I guess that means I will not post on here anymore because it is a discussion site. I will end by saying I hope Ronix, Hyperlite, CWB, Gator, Byerly,O'Brien,Slingshot,Liquid Force and any other company I might have missed, do really well in the future to keep our sport alive and not sell out to some cheap brand you can pick up at Walmart. I would hate to see companies disappear like Neptune, Double up etc. Thanks for the good chats!

wow. People are getting way too fired up. Perhaps a better way to handle it would have been to post - My board is cracked and the boardshop (or online store) won't replace it. What should I do?

But if it happened to me a might have wanted to do some bitching too and get everyone all fired up. LOL

Read further down on the thread I posted earlier:Getting older......I rode the Covin and the One. It is good stuff. rides different than anything else I rode. I can hardley wait until I ride the Frontier. If you would have read further you would have seen that....And yes I rode it down in Orlando Florida when they first came out. Personal read my profile young engineer. I have Ronix, Hyperlite, Liquid Force boards. No problems with any of them. Yippee for me. Stop with the attacks "Haters" First you attack the company for a defective board(every company has had them) not once...but twice(sounds like whining). Now you attack people..not once, not twice, three times. Immature! What I wrote earlier about not posting here anymore was immature on my part. You have brought me to your level and I take it back. Not going to do it anymore. I do not need to defend myself one bit. I am not going to be bullied by no one. Especially to the under twenty crowd. Just be mindful on who you are talking to when you post. Don't start arguments that are not necessary. Wakeboarding is suppose to be fun. Let's support our sport, not tear everyone down and that includes fellow wakeboarders and wakeboard companies. Sorry you had a flawed board, it's bound to happen once in a while to all brands.

I'm typeless dude..... YOU are attacking people for their age, opinions, and what they write about product. YOU began acting immature long before these kids came in and hurt your feelings. YOU come across like you are more knowledgeable on product, and your word is final. YOU seem like a "hater" for attacking people trying to educate others and themselves on this particular situation. YOU feel the need to not defend yourself, yet you keep doing it while offending others. YOU need to stop trying to control this board. YOU should take your own advice ("Just be mindful on who you are talking to when you post". YOU have a wonderful weekend, hopefully you can take your frustration out the water, and not on these kids. Maybe I think I have some knowledge to offer(not that my opinion is gold)....been riding for ten years now. Call Performance Ski and Surf, or Action Watersports...someone who carries ALL or most the brands. Ask them then about boards snapping in half, or delamination, spider cracks or boots ripping. Don't take my word for it, ask them. They will tell you they have had product from all the brands with the same problems from time to time. People on here are making it sound like it is Ronix specific particularly to the One board. This is the point I am trying to make. This education you are talking about is leaned at one specific brand and board negatively. Call Paul O'Brien, he will talk to you. You will find out that less than 1% of the Ronix One boards sold had a problem of this nature. That is what he told me a month and half ago when I was discussing with him on when the Cells were going to be delivered. I brought this thread to Paul's attention ( I want them to succeed like the other brands. I want our sport to continue to grow, not die off. If you are going to call me a lawyer or buddies with Ronix, you might as well include Hyperlite, and Liquid Force because I like those brands too.

From a marketing perspective, other than the title of this thread, hasn't this turned out in Ronix's favor? There was confusion on warranty, now there is not. It was taken care of, Ronix was shown to quickly react and take care of their customer. This should help Ronix solidify their already steady feet in the industry. I don't see them having problems. Sorry for the age thing, but you're calling kids out man, that's not right.

This is very funny to watch. It started as an argument with Jeff and Joe, and is now an argument between Scott and A-dub

Also I agree with Scott (trying hard to not have anyone yell at me for agreeing with anyone else) Most products do have some flaws. I am not a ronix rider, but I don't think they should be targeted if this is the only board in their line with the problem, and I am sure they are trying to fix the problem (again not a ronix rider) and also (again not trying to get anyone mad at me)

Guys ronix is now covering them just call ronix direct and they will send you new boards. we finally got it sorted out. Anyone want to buy a new ronix 142?

To save argument, I would try them both out at your dealer. There are a lot of opinions on here, and it will just confuse you. Or possibly make you mad. Only you can make that call on which is best. Just try to find a shop that carries both brands and will let you have a performance warranty. Which is, you pay this dollar amount, take it out on a weekend, bring it back, pay the dollar amount again (some shops might handle the funds differently) try out the other board. Then you buy the one you like and the money that you paid to try the gear out with, should go towards the purchase of your new rig. This is the best way to make your decision. And the nice thing is, most likely you can try as many boards as you want to see if there might yet be another that fits you better. Good Luck finding the best that suits you.
