Which one do you think you can get hurt worse in and why? Also, what sport do you think you get hurt more often?

My opinion....I think wakeboarders get hurt more often, but wakeskating gets hurt more serious.

What?? Wakeboarding for sure. More knee injuries. Much more torque on the body. Bigger - way bigger tricks/wrecks.

E.J., all board sports are pretty dangerous, I blew my ACL/MCL wakeboarding, and I am convinced that being binded to the board had a lot to do with it. In doing some research after I got injured, I found the incidence of knee injuries is particularly high for ANY sport for which bindings are involved, this includes skiing. Both wakeskating and wakeboarding are a lot of fun, but you just have to learn the basics first

Plus the fact that their are more wakeboarders than skaters. Skating is a relatively new sport. What makes you think that skaters get hurt more serious?

byerly and murray both shredded up their knees pretty good on wakeskates, and murray was only doing a simple w2w.

its kind of a toss up if you ask me. you can go huge on a wakeboard and get hurt, or you can just do a simple wake jump on a skate (or re-entry in byerly's case) and shred the hell out of yourself.

the most painful falls ive had were wakeskating wrecks. wakeboarding has no equivalent the board smashing your shin or grip burn.

THERE...that is exactly what scares me. Fact is, I am not doing and will never be doing some amazing trick off a double up that I just miss and take a mean fall that leaves me one foot in, one out of my bindings(though granted that can happen with much easier tricks).

But just doing a little ollie or maybe even just sliding a foot off for no reason can quickly leave you one foot on, one off of the skate....which "can" result in a very painful and debilitating injury.

From what I understand (and have read from other's postings) if you have the chance, kick the wakeskate away from you so you don't do the splits and cause serious damage. As for binding related sports such as wakeboarding...I've read the medical reports and yet I've been snowboarding and wakeboarding for well over 10 years and my knees feel great. As with any sport...conditioning/stretching/and being lucky always help.

I tore my ACL wakeskating, just trying to learn shuv-its. The one foot on one foot off thing on the wakeskate can be a pretty damaging thing. As far as catching an edge, I'd rather catch one on the skate than the board cause there are no head aches/ face plants since you're not connected to the board. Not sure which I think is worse...

If you are lookin for a safe sport, then look at curling, although you might drop that big rock on your foot and that could do some damage.

curling is on ice though, you could slip and fall on your tailbone or hit your head on the ice.

The way I look at it, if there's no risk involved, its not a sport, its a game.

Torn lcl, pcl and mcl from wakeskating. I still think skating hurts less than wakeboarding.
