I the strut offset to the left if looking at it from the back of the boat on an 05 VLX

That is correct, counter acts the prop rotation to make the boat go straight.

(I think) he is talking about the strut is offset a little. You can tell if you are looking up at the bottom of the boat.

Apparently hooked on Phonics didn't work for him.

It probably does counteract the prop rotation some, but i think the chief reason is so you can pull the driveshaft without removing the rudder.
