Hello friends at wakeworld. I'm here to tell a sad wakeboard story. A friend of mine in Texas started a Cristian wakeboard camp. I'm only fourteen so I hoped to be a camper. I was one grade to old so my friend said I could go work for free. (basically free food, room and board, and wakeboard time) The people at air nautique donated Seven 05 boats, top of the line. Also every single 05 board, binding, lifejacket, rope, handle, and wakeskate. I am jumping for joy at this moment as any wakeboard enthuisiest would. This guy was my camp counselor from another cristian camp. (not a wakeboard camp.) I had him for a week, and he is awesome. I would trust this guy with my life. As soon as I tell my parents they say I can't go because they don't know him. (we live in different states) They dont try to get to know him or talk to people that know him. They just flat out don't let me go. I'm starting this thread because I had to tell someone, and it's also a place for other mourning wakeboarder souls.

They just donated 7 05 boats. I wouldn't buy it either if my kid wanted to go.

This is a christian Camp right? Im sure your parents wouldnt know alot of the camp counselors if they just sent you off to a normal christian camp. I used to go to christain camp when I was a kid and my parents never ever met the camp counselors!! I would try and reason with them, or have the counselor call and talk with them to put their mind at ease. Your parents are just trying to protect you bud, you never really know who you are dealing with these days no matter what label someone is going by. Good luck!

Correct craft are extremly outspokin cristians. Or at least the dealer ship that donated are. I'll get you a web link real fast. If they have a site yet.

They have know problem sending me to a cristian camp, they do it once a year anyway, that's where I met the guy. The problem is he invited me for free and they think that's fishy. I wont be a camper, and It's a day camp so I'd be sleeping with the counselors.

Im not going to tell you at this time where it is (nothing personal) it's only for seventh and eighth graders but it'll hopefull widen up. They are only doing one week this year for technical reasons. No chance of a parent or trusted adult going. None whatso ever. I'm looking for a link. In fact im going to call my friend now.

I think your parents know that this is too good to be true, besides I think you can find another camp closer to home were your parents can monitor whats going on and be at peace while your at camp. We dont need another Jackson case with our hard earned dollars at waste.

GUILTY: spank your own MONK$%

No place closer, I live in arkansas. Thats what they think, a michael jackson case. If this were true he would have done it last summer at camp. It's not like there wernt chances. He had a cabin full of boys. But nothing at all like that happened. It was neverland. No place closer to home.

It is pretty interesting that they have seven boats for one week. My friend has a wakeboard camp that runs for the length of the summer and he has two boats, both of which are his (and one of which is trying to be sold).

Exhibit 32 as to why even teenagers need parents.

Some of the posters here could also use a little adult supervision.

I was wondering when the real wakeboard camps would provide some comparisons.

Sorry shane, I didn't relize it was that bad. It's the same boats and gear they are touring with this summer. That's why there only having it one week the Natique guys need it the rest the summer.

Religious camps are great ways to get the government to pay for your nice toys. Not sure what the number is up to now--but in August '04 the Bush administration had given out $2.6B in faith based initiatives. I'd be willing to bet the seven boats being used by the camp are controlled by seven "counselors" whose kids also happen to be the ones attending the camp.

When you see Christian or At-Risk youth camp with really nice equipment think Republican. Poor people buy lottery tickets to get rich. Smart people spend that money on campaign donations and a professional grant writer. It has worked very well for a few groups in our area. Their summer lake houses are "summer camps" with the boat, gas, and other expenses paid.

Bottom line--your parents are probably doing the right thing keeping you hoem. Ask if your Dad could come work at the camp also--two free workers has to be better than one.
