Go to a boat show, and ask some people if they have a demo board for cheap. I got mine that way for pretty darn cheap, and it only has a few surface scratches, but nothing to inhibit the performance. For starting out, you won't need anything too extravagant, just get something that gets you started, then if you like it, go buy yourself a nice cassette or integrity wakeskate.

If you shop around you can find some cheap boards out there. I know if you shop around you can find some decent boards for decent prices. I'm sure there's better prices, but a basic skate brand new is around 70-80 bucks. I'd suggest checking out EBAY also. You never know what you'll find hidden there.

cassette flat decks are the best place you can go for the cheap price and quality board...buywake.com you can get the 2003 flat deck for $65$ that is a really good deal for a wakeskating beginner.
