I currently can clear the wake out to 2 feet outside but my air is not that high. I ride at 55 feet around 25mph with 1600 pounds in a malibu skier so the wake is pretty big. THere are times were i go straight up and then come down and not outside the wake any tips would be apreciated thanks

55 feet sure is a short rope !

practice your progressive edge. once u get it dialed in you'll get both good pop & good distance.

55 feet is short. go out the wake. then cut in hard. and pop off the wake.

man i have a malibu skier with around the same weight
we ride at 65ft @ around 21-22mph or 2600 rpms

if your a beginner bring your rope to 50ft with handle and ride @2300 rpms

I know I am having the same problem. I cut hard and hit the wake with good speed. But I keep my knees bent too much and it kills my pop. Try straightening up just before you take off the wake. As for the 55 feet that distance is good because it makes it easier to clear the wake to the other side. When you get better and more comfortable try letting some rope out 5 feet at a time. Most people ride between 65 and 75 feet depending on preference.

From what i've heard, the wider out you start your cut, the more distance. the shorter out, more height

Just giving my two bits of info, but i've found if you straighten up just before hitting the wake, it kills all your tension in the rope and also your sideways momentum. the easiest way to get more air is to stay carving all the way up the wake, so as to keep your momentum up and the rope tight. if the rope is tight and pulling you from up above you, it will naturally want to pull you up as well, otherwise you might as well be pulled off a ski bracket.

go outside the wake and get the hang of doing ollies. Slightly push your leading foot down with your knees bent, and then rock to your back foot (while at the same time jumping). When you get that down on flat water take it to the wake. Ollie right at the top of the wake as you come out of a progressive edge. (my friends don't understand a progressive edge, they never cut hard enough, what i tell them is to let me read the bottom of their board from inside the boat). If you make the transition from the edge to the ollie smoothly, the line tension should stay tight. Good luck man

invest in a sleeve pilyon and get the rope up. stomp on the TOP of the wake. that'll kik you way up.
