... and it only took me 5 years! So I crashed hard a few times and didn't get the ballz to try it again until recently when I finally started landing 3's again. So last weekend camping I started sticking them... almost landed a toeside front too, that will be next... then the scarecrow... anyways, here's a pic.. not the very first one I landed, but maybe the 3rd or 4th :-)

NICE Josh, that is not just a backroll, it is a HUGE backroll. Keep the arm out of the handle on the three's. It has been ages since I have seen you. Are you still Jeepin?

Thats monsterous, I remember the first time I landed an invert snowboarding and I couldn't get over myself.
Old    Kevin (blackhash)      Join Date: Sep 2003       08-04-2004, 1:33 PM Reply
you dont hear this much but that might actually be too big back mobes are best wake to wake so you might want to tone it down to help progression! Plus once u start taking it revert you dont want to be in the flats too much
Old    Matt (pittsy)      Join Date: Apr 2004       08-05-2004, 12:16 AM Reply
that backroll is HUGE!!!! Good Job!!
Old    Ryan Newcomb (jnewcom)      Join Date: Mar 2003       08-05-2004, 12:31 AM Reply
I thanks that is the BIGGEST backroll I have ever seen. Everytime I try to throw mine big, I over rotate.
Old    Josh Long (joshljoshl)      Join Date: Jul 2000       08-05-2004, 12:48 AM Reply
Hey thanks guys!! YES it feels great to finally be in the inverted crowd! I think that's the biggest one I've thrown yet, but they're always into the flats. I've had long enough to figure out how to get pretty good air, just took me forever to get the nerve to go upside down! My fiance did a great job catching that pic, just wish it was a little more focused but hey I'm not complaining! I just hope I can keep the juice flowin and land more inverts before the end of the year... to make up for wasted time! BTW, they're usually only about this big... but still not too bad.
small br

Damn, wish I could join you Josh. Been working at my backrolls this year, then tore my ACL requiring surgery. Better luck next year I guess. Ill live vicariously through guys like you this year. (Maybe Ill try some inverts on the snowboard this winter.....then again, maybe not....).

Way to go Josh. Is that Bullard's?

Old    Josh Long (joshljoshl)      Join Date: Jul 2000       08-06-2004, 7:41 PM Reply
Nope, that's at Trinity. I was at Bullards a couple months ago, though... that's a beautiful place! Too bad the water is getting so low everywhere.. :-(

yall think thats big... my cousin does them twice as high, and he has only landed 3 so far. He takes some huge falls.
Old     (offdapeggs)      Join Date: Apr 2002       08-07-2004, 8:51 AM Reply
are you landing them consistantly?
I landed my first one last year and still don't land them easily

That is huge! What are some tips to makin' a backroll happen?
Old    Josh Long (joshljoshl)      Join Date: Jul 2000       08-09-2004, 9:50 AM Reply
I wouldn't say I'm quite consistent yet, but it's getting there. I usually land the first few I throw and then I start over rotating because I hit it too hard.

jman, the biggest tip I can give anyone is... HIT IT HARD AND STOP WHIMPIN OUT! The reason I had quit trying them is because the crashes hurt so bad... that was because I was half-assin it.. once you really go for it the crashes rarely hurt, which is what gave me the courage to keep going for it. Edge progressively and really dig your heals in with your knees bent all the way up the wake and right as you feel it push you, just straighten your legs like you're trying to get as much pop as you can while going with the "slipped on a banana peel" feeling and hang on for the ride. It was amazing that once I landed the first one, I did 3 in a row right after that. Then I started thinking too much and couldn't land anything.

P.S. I just landed my first toeside front flip yesterday!!! camera tho, will have one next time I go out

Haha nice try but to bad that picture was photoshopped. It's the exaxt same picture as your first one and look at the angle of the rope.

What?!!!! Damn, I actually thought that WAS Leo's cousin, just a striking resemblance.

Oh, man. You got me. I can't fool you.

P.S. The angle of the rope doesn't give away anything.

Good catch Alex; I noticed that the shadows and his hands were all in the exact same position as the first not to mention that his cousin wore the exact same cloths and accessories.
Pretty sad when you lose your integrity dobbing photos to look better. Sad

Hey man, you didn't ask permission to steal my copyrighted photo! j/k.. that's pretty funny.. I'll have to keep that edited one around to show unsuspecting friends lol...

Relax, was it only obvious to me and a cpl others that Salmon was being sarcastic with that pic. The picture is so over the top I am still cracking up. The only thing funnier is the flaming he is receiving for it!

I apparently underestimated the intelligence of some of the people on this message board. What was I thinking?

You guys are bona-fide A1 Internet Super Sleuths! Way to go! Seriously, if there were a prize for Photoshop detection, I'm sure you'd all win! Yay!

BTW, my cousin does them five times as high but the picture is too tall to fit on your monitor so I won't post it.

Thats was a pretty good job on the dobbing, I might not have noticed if you did not have the other photo there to compare too. :-)

my cousin doesnt do them that high, but he has a small frame of 130lbs so when he does stuff he looks like he is going way bigger.
