hello everyone,we just got a tube and a kneeboard,and need some advice.we never tried the kneeboard yet,only the tube.my one son is a good size teenager about 225lbs but very good on the tube,and other sports and we dont really know the best way to pull him up? should he have his knee's in place first? or should he slide into place when i take off?do i pull him up hard,or just drag him till he's up?Anyway we want to learn,and this is a cool site!!thanks for any help.

It's usually best to start out on your belly when you're a beginner. Just pull him up slowly and keep the speed under 20mph. He should be able to get up on his knees at around 15mph. Now what your son needs to do is to lay on the board with his forearms on the front of the board. When the boat pull comes, his nose should be right above the tip of the kneeboard. He'll bounce if he's too far back. When he's ready to get on his knees, have him grab the tip of the board with both hands, while still holding onto the handle. Then he just needs to pop up on his knees.

Alternate method. Get on kneeboard in proper position in shallow water so that the board's tail is on the bottom and the nose out of the water. You can also put the entire board on the sand at the water's edge. Simply pull off the sand. Works great for little kids and full size adults. Just have them lean back and start with a slow, smooth pull up to about 15-18 mph.
