Gary,
I was riding in the Crescent Bar area, Columbia River. Where do you ride over there? We used to live in Silverdale and hit Panther, Cushman and a couple other ponds over there that I can't remember the names of.

i know they are said to be a protection vest and not a flotation device but is it like wearing no vest at all or does it keep you afloat somewhat?

Mine floats me very well. It fits nice and snug and feels very thin. I know the main reason that most vests arn't USCG approved is because they don't gurantee that the victum's face will be out of the water if unconcious. I guess the other approved vests will put the victum's face out of the water under any circumstance. Other than that, the outlaw feels and floats like a regular vest. I can tell maybe a little bit that I'm floating a bit lower in the water that a regular vest, but the difference is minimal.
