amp way hotttttttttttttt.

just went out today first time it was 90+ my kicker zx 650x4 runs a pair of kmt6 tower speakers bridged the amp gets super hot way to hot to touch is this normal.

Too low of an impedance to bridge, need to run 1 speaker per channel.

Yeah wouldn't it be 3 ohm bridged which it's only 4 ohm stable in bridged mode?

^^^ Yes, the KTM6's are around 3ohm's, so each chnl is seeing about 1.5ohm's in bridge mode when they are only stable down to 2ohm's.

Your just pushing your amp too hard. get another amp and run them both unbridged or get another that is powerful enough to run all your speakers unbridged. If you keep running it this way your going to run into some serious issues come summer time when its really hot out.

Actually you should be able to get away with that setup. Assuming you have about 15 feet of wire the amp should be able to deal with that load.

The amp will run hot though as you are right on the edge. Get a fan and put a 60-80Hz high pass on. The THD will spike as you move out of the normal operating range- so keep a keen eye out for distortion to avoid clipping those things.

I'm assuming you had the amp before you got the speakers- if you ever have a chance to upgrade avoid 4 channel amps if at all possible, a 2 channel would run this configuration much cooler and cleaner. You could just run 2 channels to those speakers and use the other two channels to power a sub or your cockpit speakers- it should give enough juice.

You SHOULD NOT run a 4-channel amp in bridge mode into a pair of KMT6. You are showing a 1.5-ohm load to each amp channel. Too low.. You will thermal the amp sometime later this summer if you keep it this way.

That amp delivers 120 watts per channel into a 4-ohm load. As Gangstar Joe suggests, use half the amp on the KMT6 and use the other half on another pair of speakers... The KMT6 will handle more, but 120 will do decent for ya.

There is too much historical mis-information out there and it goes back 20 years to the heyday of the car audio craze. Except for the occasional subwoofer application and the rare special application, there is absolutely no need to bridge an amplifier with today's electronics. Still, almost every day I read somewhere, (not only on this forum) about someone recommending buying a 4-channel amp specifically to run a pair of speakers. Captain, don't do it! Just so I do not paint myself into a corner, there are the rare occasional situations where bridging an amp makes sense, but they are not many, and this is not it...

Tony, re-wire the KMT6's to just half of the amp, and either let the other half go unused, or see if there is another pair of speakers you can drive with it... It will work a lot better and longer for ya... Otherwise, consider selling that amp and trading for a ZX450.2 which will be the perfect 2-channel amp for a pair of KMT6...
