I need to calibrate my speedo & PP and was planning to use my friends portable GPS unit that he has for his car. I've never used a GPS before so my question is will the speedometer on the car GPS work on water?

Thanks for any info

I should amend that to say, so long as there isn't a current i.e. a river then yes it will work accuretly. If you are in a river you would have to adjust for the current flow.

Thanks Hate, there's no current to deal with so I'm hoping it works out.

I used my Garmin Nuvi to calibrate it and it worked fine.

Thanks Big Rick. I borrowed a Tom Tom from a friend so I'm going to give it a try asap.
