Does anyone have any insite to the boat in only campsites? I know there are no toliets or running water but what about shade or the slopeabilty(is that a word?) meaning walking into the water to swim or clean yourself?. Are you in a cove or just the middle of the lake type of deal. How loud can you be do they allow fires? Any other suggestions and comments are appreciated thanks guys.

There are a couple places that are in the middle of a portion of the lake but the vast majority are on the shore in a cove. You will find various slopes. Your boat is going to get dirty. You have dusty dry grass that your stuff will be sitting in. In the less sloped areas it will tend to be a little muddy near the boat. You will want to rig the boat to float in the water and not beached over night. You will have little criters around from time to time but have never had an actual encounter. Did see eyes circling before though. You will never really be so isolated that people somewhere won't be pissed if you are playing loud music all night since it carrys for ever. You can talk and laugh all you want usually. I have always had good seperation from people by at least 100 yards. They do not allow fires on the boat in. There are floating SS poopshoots on the water for a very short boat ride of usually less than a minute. Usually takes longer to get the people in the boat and back out than it does to get there. I have always enjoyed it. It is more work than drive up camping for sure but it you will have a blast.

Yeah.... lots of fun. They aren't really so much boat in campsites as just shore camping (unless something has changed since I was there last). I shore camped there for the first 20 years of my life. We haven't been back in a few years (business and family obligations), but I'd like to go back soon.

It's a lot of work hauling everything in with you (on the boat), but it's very private and laid back.

I have to disagree with Rod on the louddness part. When I go to Pedro and stay on the shore we make as much noise as we want. We Usually bring a DJ mixer and generator. You pick you spot, so you can go as close or as far from others as you want.

If you want to party and not worry, then the boat in is what you want. When I go to Pedro the fun is camping out on the lake, not in the campsites.
