I've read all the threads about rust inhibitors and haven't seen much about CRC Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor (NOT the other CRC products) or LPS-1. I was going to get the CRC Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor 'cause some tests have sown it to be the best (

However, I just talked to some of the machinists here at my lab who have lived in my area all their life and they swear by LPS-1. One guy said he bought a new outboard fishing boat years ago and whenever he brings it in for service the mechanics can't believe that it has EVER been in salt water. He said he sprayed the engine down once a week after use, but he also only used it once a week (I'll be riding more like 5times/wk). He also has a lot of experience with anti-corrosion products that we use around the industrial equipment here at my plant. He said that the CRC is heavier and gunkier and you don't want that on your engine...i said I was thinking I would at least put it on the bottom where water might splash on the engine since some people (from wakeworld) have said that it leaves gunk, but when you scrub off the gunk it is rust free underneath. My guy said that he had used a similar gunky product (NOT CRC) and it formed almost a hard crusty gunk but then a crack in the gunk allowed water to seep in and stay in. So when he cleaned off the gunk it was rusty underneath. The LPS-1 leaves a thin, transparent, non greasy film and doesn't build up. LPS-1 does not say it is a rust inhibitor on the can and it was not included in the tests that say CRC is the best. I mentioned WD-40 and my guy said that it is way better than WD-40 and does not absorb water (he said you can see the water get pushed away and off the engine as you spray), whereas WD-40 does absorb water (I forget the technical term).
Has anyone used LPS-1 or CRC Heavy Duty Rust Inhibitor (NOT the other CRC products) and what has your experience been??
