I just have been through lake county court system for a boating ticket I recieved at Boardstock. The judge said it wasn't a eligible offense for traffic school and it could affect my insurance. Just wondering if anyone else has gone through this. I had 14 people, 13 adult vest's plus 3 non-cga vest's and the sheriff still gave me a ticket for not enough vest's.

Well if you had 14 people and 13 vests, the Sheriff was justified in writing you a ticket - sorry dude. Get a few spare CGA PFDs and keep them in the boat just in case.

Not sure how a life jacket citation could carry over to your auto insurance, which I think is what you are asking. I know here in Texas, a DUI will add points to your record, but I don't see how a PFD infraction could.

Good luck.

Non-moving violation, it's an equipment violation, that's why it is not eligible for driving school...

Not to soudn liek a dad, but 14 people on a boat looks like even more. Any boat with 14 on it looks crowded. When I go out with 10 or more I expect to get pulled over and checked. It will not affect your insurance, it's like getting a parking ticket.

Dan, there's no point system for DL's in Texas.

That's brutal, but if you're gonna roll with 14 people on a boat (which is stacked to capacity), I'd expect to get pulled over and checked. When they stopped us at Boardstock they made us produce jackets for everyone on board. They never checked to see that the vest I was wearing was non-CGA. I guess we just got lucky.

The sad thing is I was giving the nieghbor's a ride to a concert that I didn't even go to. I just dont want boat or auto insurance to be affected. " you play, you pay ".
