Ocean Boats

We are looking for a boat, we wake board, dive and fish. I am looking for some advise. does anybody use a center console fishing boat for wake boarding? if so what modifications have been done to shape the wake (trim tabs fat sacks ect.)

other side of coin who uses their wake board boat to fish and or dive in salt water, and how does the boat handle the ocean waves say 3'4's

I would like to know this also, living in South Florida, I have seen nothing but center consoles for the last two years. I have always wondered what kind of wake a Shamrock or Fish Nautique throws. I would also like to see what kind of wake an outboard can produce.

I have had my Malibu 3 miles off shore in the Keys with no problems. I always check the NOAA buoys before taking a boat like mine that far out though. I dive and wakeboard - the carpet would be hard to clean when fishing.
Mastercraft actually has the most innovative boat I have seen for what you are asking about. They have a center counsle boat that you could fish, dive and wakeboard from. No carpet and a saltwater engine - look into it. The tower is the bimini top and it has ballast too.
Probably will be the second boat added to my fleet...

Our Davis Cortez www.davisboats.com throws a great wake. The boat has very large tabs and the Radon style hull is a great wake hull & the boat has enough hole shot to get you up with the duo prop set up. I have not tried it makes me feel wayyyyy to much like a jig behind the boat being eaten is not high on my list of ways I want to go

that mastercraft CSX is build for the EXACT purpose you are describing.

The CSX would NOT do well in 3-4' waves. Good luck just getting out of an inlet with 3-4' waves rolling in. Like Ted does with his wakesetter, you could take it to the reef in the keys, but do your homework on the weather first.

The CSX is a bay boat, not an ocean boat. It would be a fantastic boat in the intracoastal, or tampa bay, etc, but I know I wouldn't take it out on the open seas, except for a calm day.

I really am not trying to bag on the CSX, as we have seen it has a phenominal wake, just really don't want people getting into bad situations, thinking this boat would be good in big ocean waves.

It is definately possible to ride behind a good fishing/dive ocean boat such as a Contender, Pursuit, Jupiter, etc, and reasonable wakes can be had with these boats. Probably not as fun to drive pulling a rider, but definately possible.

Ted, if you are adding to your fleet keep the wakesetter for wakeboarding and get a 32' Contender for fishing and diving, and make sure to invite me a lot. haha

Also, for perspective, most casual boaters with the large center console boats don't go out in 3-4' waves, pretty much only the srious fishermen/divers

Its funny you said that cuz I am thinking Contender too. I will always have a Wakesetter, just need something for my other hobbies... heading to the Keys right now for a week of diving and fishing - and other things...

I looked at the CSX today and the msrp is from 80k to 101k depending on the options of course. This is a little over the price range of our budget right now.

as far as being in 3-4' I would not go out in that weather I was addressing getting in from a dive that had pick up while i was under.

i am going to look more in to the x45 and csx.

i used to have a 21' regulator. It is one of the best center consoles you can buy and actually through out a really good wake. The only problem was holding speed but if u put perfect pass it would be perfect.

Ted, I fish in a Contender a fair bit in Palm Beach, and it is a fantastic boat. Solid as a rock and very well set up.
