I have an opportunity to work in Dublin, CA for through the summer maybe longer. How far is it from decent riding spots like the Delta, Folsum etc. Is it way too far out of the bay area? Is it close to anything? Or is is out in the middle of nowhere? Can a brother get a pull?

Also, I need some cost of living questions answered. I need a 2 bed 2 bath with garage if available. Any ideas as to how much they are going for? What is the name of the local paper down there?

Hey Steve,

You will have no problems getting pulls. Dublin is only 20-25 mins from the Delta and about 30 mins to SF. Its a nice place to stay a little pricey though, not sure what you would be looking at exactly for a 2 bed/2 bath though. Try www.craigslist.org

ON distance to the Delta from dublin... I'm going to argue the 20-25 min. This could be true at few times of the day.... lets say 3 in the morning... if your evening thinking about leaving dublin after 3 on a weekday (due to traffic) your looking at an hour.. on friday 90+minutes.

Are you looking for a roommate type thing or your own place, I have seen people looking for roommates.

Arun,

I thought you were in So Cal for some reason? Thanks for the link. It is pretty spendy in Dublin but thank God for relocation allowances! I'll keep you posted.

Steven, the Delta is a riding heaven. And, the lakes are sweet too. It is also really easy to get a pull.

My house is in Redwood City (the star on the map) and you can see Dublin and DiscoBay on the map too. I go to the delta all of the time and it takes me a little over an hour - you just have to do it at the right times.

Dublin has a lot of nice new apartments and new homes/condos in development. It is a pretty nice place and much more affordable than the peninsula (where I live).

Here's the map.

I will be relocating with another gal, that's a 9 in a bikini and great for the boat, and looking for a 2 bedroom. Wow 1700 + for a decent spot is pretty pricey!

580 West is really bad in the AM commute: 6 am to 10 am.
580 East is really bad in the PM commute: 3 pm to 8 pm.
When I try to get to Discovery Bay on Friday night, I usually wait and leave my house at 8 pm. Then, I am there by 9:15 pm. Smooth sailing.

Steven,

Everyone has already pretty much answered your questions, but I just wanted to extend an invite to ride with us at the delta when you arrive. Shoot me an email or place a post and we'll hook-up and ride.

Cool Robert! Thanks everyone for the info. After being subjected to Umali's Winter whinning and praises of the almighty Delta, I look forward to seeing the Delta in all it's glory!

I live in dublin. on sat. morning it takes 20 mins to get to the delta. I don't even try to go on weekdays. This area is a little on the pricey side but is alot nicer than most places in the east bay. Try looking at Livermore, it's chaeper and 10 min away without any traffic, but there is alot of traffic during commute times, but you will be 10 mins closer to the delta

The Alameda County jail is in Dublin. You can wave to the inmates as they get released.

But Dublin is a nice place to live. Lots of new shops and stores. The whole Bay Area is really expensive. If you go further west it is going to be more expensive. Further east and the price will drop but your commute time will increase.
