I am looking at getting a new to me Burb and liked the idea of getting the 2500 with the 6.0. I have read elsewhere on the net that the 2500 has alot of wind noise during towing and increased height of the hitch. Any insight on your experiences with this vehicle would be greatly appreciated!

does it have the autoride system do you know? it's basically an automatic airbag system. how about a tow mode?

i have a 06 denali xl with the 6.0, autoride and tow mode and it's awesome. no issues. i don't notice any road noise and it tows like a champ.

I have always towed with 2500 Subs. definitely an advantage over the 1/2 tons. Bigger brakes, leaf spring rears, stronger axles, differential, etc.
Yes firmer ride, but I like the truck feel. I've got 178,000 miles on my current '01 and it is still going strong.
I have the big block 8.1 which they discontinued a few years back, but my brother has the 6.0 in his 3/4 ton and loves it, and gets better mileage than me.

I'm not sure how wind noise would be any different between a 1/2 and 3/4 ton?

Twitch, btw I think you mean 6.0, and the LTZ is only available in a half ton.

Not that it's a big deal, but the receiver is WAY high on my wife's 08 Tahoe LTZ 4x4. I use a 6" drop stinger on my 99 Z71, and I couldn't even jack the boat up high enough to get the tongue over the ball on it. It will need a 12" drop or more.

My cousin pulled my 08 VLX with his 07' burban with the 6 liter about 100 miles to a camp trip last year. It pulled it great. The air ride suspension was nice too to level out the load. I didn't notice much wind noise.

The 6.0 engine runs and pulls great, my folks have a denali and I have pulled my boat with it a few times. I dont see how "towing" would cause windnoise inside the cab of the truck? I guess maybe if the rear is squated with a trailer on it??? You got me there, but 2500 is the way to go, my Duramax suspension and brakes are killer.

I have a 1/2 ton LTX. So I can only comment on the increased height of the hitch (I believe it's the same on both trucks)...

For aesthetic reasons, GM integrated the tow bar behind the bumper. So it's several inches above the traditional tow bar that would sit below the bumper. This just means that you'll need a hitch with a bigger drop. I think mine has a 6" drop. I needed a hitch with that sort of drop or I wouldn't have been able to get my trailer on.

trace, a 12" drop! you cant be serious. Right now I just use a 2" drop on my 99 Burb 4x4 while towing the tandem axle MC. Surely I wont need a 12" drop.

Is the ride height of the 1/2 ton the same as the 3/4 ton?

According to Edmunds.com, both the 1500(1/2 ton) and the 2500 (3/4 ton) have ground clearance of 9.1 inches and an exterior height of 76.8 inches. So they should have the same height hitch.

Every trailer is different. The prop guard on my trailer sits pretty low, and like I said I already run a 6" drop on my stock-ride-height pickup to keep from dragging it over speedbumps.
