I have been looking to get the most boat for my buck. Recently I have run across a couple repo boats. Has anyone actually bought one of these, what was the experience like?

I also have this question. How do I find a repo boat? Do they all go to auction? I know most repos are thrashed but buying a fixer sounds fun as long as its a great deal.

my 1st inboard was a bank repo 02 moomba outback. it had 40 hrs on it. the previous owner took the tower off along with removing the stereo before the repo man took it away.

put a new factor tower on it and replaced the stereo. put over 200 hrs on it before selling it 2 years later.

There are a ton of Repo's in my area, most are from dealers that went belly up and are basically brand new boats. My buddy just bought an 08 cobalt 272 with 40 hrs for $55K, it was a $90 plus boat a year ago. There are deals to be had...

I just picked up a 07’ X2 with 50 hours for 38.5K. It was a repo that a dealer bought at auction. It is in really good shape just a couple of small scratches in the gel coat that I can buff out. I was also able to get the warranty transferred.

American Yacht Sales in Houston is where we bought our repo boat a few years back.

There are usually a couple wake boats on crankyape.com And I don't think that's bad karma, they just need a good home like any other wake boat.

Sam just a thought you might better check with Mastercraft on that warranty. I looked at a repo a while back that was still in warranty, but MC said they would not warranty it because it was a repo.

A word of caution on auction boats, I have seen two come through our dealership and both had cracked blocks. Both boats came from the auction in Arizona and neither was listed as having a cracked block. Buyer beware and really, really try to look at the boats in person.

Of the two we have seen one was still an ok deal the other was not. Not even close because of other damage that was not disclosed nor evident in the photos.

Not saying good deals can not be had, just be careful or you could end up getting burned.

The one for 15k stated reserve not met. There may be some great deals - but nobody appears to be giving boats away.

Chuck, if you read it carefully it says "The reserve HAS been met" "Pay attention boy"

The 15k one clearly says
"RESERVE HAS BEEN MET"

I don't understand how that could be any less clear, but I'll try to help.

Engine doesn't sound good in that one? Having said that it still might be a good deal.

Matt I hope they transferred the warranty. I talked to them and they sent me the transfer info and I sent it back with a check that they cashed.

Yeah, I saw an 07 malibu lsv going for 28k, but the prevous owner stripped the wakeplate, prop, all the speakers and god knows what else. Unfortunately it was to far away to inspect, so I did not bid. If you were local and could get a professional to look it over, it might have been an unbelievable deal.
