I have a solid hull and deck black 22ssv coming in soon and can't decide it I should powder coat the tower to or leave it the brushed aluminum look. There will be a stainless steal rub rail on it that will take away from some of the black. I just can't decide if it is too much black or I should do it. My original thought was to just powder coat the back of the board racks. I will also have black tower speakers. What do you guys think? The brushed aluminum look or powder coat it black? Thanks

Personally brushed alloy, will match the rub rail and I presume windcreen surround. It will look sick.

Thanks.. I know I always answer other peoples posts with "go with your gut" and it originally was to just go the brushed look. I think I will stick with it. I will have a lot of black accents on this one. Just tough once you start re-thinking it..... Tyler, thanks... you should like this next one even better.. should be pretty pimp.... your in bend right? we have 3 trips planned out to cove palisades this year

Black on black. There is enough stainless and aluminum to off-set it ie; board racks, windshield, part of the tower speakers, rub rail supra logo, ect.

My boat is mostly black and grey. I would keep it brushed aluminum just to give it that added contrast. Ties in anything else that is brushed or billet.

BLACK. I can send you pics of my boat if you would like. I have a Centurion. The tower speakers are black too and with the chrome fasteners and wakeboard racks it really looks clean. I'm telling you black is the way to go. My email is sean.huddleston@yahoo.com if you want me to send you some pics.

So why on earth would he be thinking about brushed aluminum? I think brushed aluminum looks cheap. I think that boat looks so sick with the black and CHROME. I couldn't imagine looking at that boat or his new all black boat with a brushed cheap looking aluminum tower. Then what, black speakers on the aluminum? No question, the tower has to be black.

"Why on earth?" to change things up year to year. I think the powder coated tower on the supra looked sick too. But I think with a stainless rubrail and brushed tower with the black backing to the racks would seperate the black very nicely especially if you're going to have black cans on the tower again. Either way you'll be pimp pimpin

I agree the black was a no brainer on the boat above cause the deck what light in color and it brought it all back together. I just question that it will be too much black with the top deck being black. Anyone good at photo shop and color that top deck black? That might make it easier to decide... I will have the same speakers you see above, but will also have the Z5 cargo rack which will bring in a lot more black.... Who is a good photo shopper? Sean does your boat have a solid black top deck too? If so, yeah i want to see a pic. Post away. Thanks

http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/344117.html the last picture in the thread is interesting as well. they powdercoated the window frames. but with all the white on the upholstry it could go either way with the tower. good luck choosing diggs.

The all black looks killer...but the brushed looks nice too, especially if you coat the speakers and board rack backs black....that would really set it off. you can't go wrong with either! Alot of help I am, I know. lol

I debated the same thing before I got my XLV a couple of months ago. I am really glad I went with the powder coat as far as looks go, but I am having a problem with the paint. The tower speakers were moved from one position to another and now the paint appears to bubble up where the speakers were previously mounted. Don't know what I am going to (or can) do about it. I am open to suggestions on this but will post a new message on that issue so as to not hijack this thread. BTW... Although this is my first post on WW, I have been reading the boards every day for the past several months. I have learned a ton from you guys/gals and I thank you all. You guys are the best!

Nice to know my boat has an admirer or two! I've gone both ways on the last couple of boats. My 02 X1 originally had the polished tower and I had it powdercoated black and loved the way that it came out. Granted the deck on it is white but you get the general idea. I would actually love to powder the X2 tower as well but with the integrated board racks it makes it a huge pain the arse to remove everything and then get it back together. I love those black trailer rims.

Pretty rough photoshop work ---(it's pretty hard to turn a small black tower to brushed aluminum)---but it gives you an idea. I'm still leaning towards the black side, brushed is so common.

You know I wast totally all about the brushed metal look but with those photoshops and your guys opinions, I think I am with you. I am liking the black better too. I will keep you posted. Thanks Jeff and Craig for doing those photoshops. I do appreciate it. I agree I can't go wrong either way. I want to differentiate a bit from a buddy of ours that has an all black boat too so maybe black is the way to go....

Craig, can you photo shop that tower of the all black 21v that jeff newton posted above that was at the boat show. The reason being is I will have the bimin like that and the black tower speakers. That would be a closer comparison. I know it is a pain in the a** so if you get a minute. I will owe you and monroe a pull next time you are back in ptown....

The black was pretty hard, because Black is technically no color or the absence of color.. Well, it's really hard to get that rich black color (like the hull) and retain the features and reflections of the tower.. However, I think it's close enough to give you an idea....and hey, I figured out how to do Chrome along the way. Oh and Tyler, you owe me nothing...but if you're offering a pull I've never been one to refuse..

Don't worry, whatever color you choose I will still be a boat whore on your new boat, which I can't wait to see. There, you don't need to stress anymore...Haha. That being said I say go black. As long as you don't ever plan on going back of course....

Mine has the white deck and more graphics than that boat to offset the black tower but obviously you don't need my pic anymore since you have already photoshopped what you are buying. I am like a proud papa. BLACK IT IS!!!!!

Late to the party but I am saying black. Maybe keep the polished board racks if you want some contrast but I think there will be enough silver things here and there to bring it all together.

Damit Diggs, now you have me thinking on DRA's 22SSV and the tower color. Currently we have all black bottom with a platinum top deck and the brushed tower. But the Black tower is looking way sweet. I think it will highlight the accessories more.
