Looks like a steal. I'm going to check it out this weekend. Anything I need to know before I buy?

Drive it if you can. Check the stringers for rot. You can check the motor mount bolts where they mount into the stringers, make sure they tighten and don't spin freely. Other things, teak mount bolts into hull, electronic or points ignition, and look at the hull for spider cracks, blisters. Check the transmission fluid, should be raspberry in color.

Awesome boat at a fair price. Get it, much better than the prostar you were looking at.

Ok, thanks Diego. So what do you think this boat is really worth?

If it runs out, and all other checks are ok it's easily worth that. I wouldn't be bummed on any of the above other than stringers or drive train issues. For that price if it checks out, you can add a tower and ballast and have a beast of a budget wake boat for under $8k. Not to say I wouldn't try and work him on the price though! lol

price is about right on it, prolly needs some minor work. If everything is in good shape, good price.

Yeah, price is right. I got an 83 last year for 3500 but had to do a little motor work and added stereo, ballast, extended pylon, racks, new ski mirror, sub, redid the interior and still only had 6500 in it. Sold it to my buddy for 6 and it is still running strong and throwing a hard vert wake with about 1000 lbs of weight.

It really throws a nice wake if you add about 6 peeps with that weight, 2-3 people and you need to add a little more next to the motor to give the wake a transition.

I'm going down and going to offer him 5500. I'm assuming he will take it, because while talking on the phone he said the price is negotiable. 5500 seems like a killer deal compared to what other people price their ski nautiques at. Should I offer him a little less?

How long has he had it for sale? 5500 is a great price for that boat. Even with out ballast and just a few people the wake is nice. You can pick up a tower from diy wake for cheap or just an extended pylon. I would opt for the tower, makes for more room in the boat.
