I have a safety question for anyone out there that can help. I have a couple of sets of hyperlite bindings that are almost 2 years old. They both broke. The eyes that the laces go through broke off. So what I did was refit the laces to just cinch up the bottom part of the boot and I added a velcro strap around the top. This strap has little to no stretch and if cinched tight I don't think my foot could come out even in a hard fall. Is this ok? or is it essential that my foot be able to come out? Thanks.

Sounds like some of the straps found on bindings about 5 years ago.

They worked then. The argument is in or out. You either want both feet in, or both feet out. The only concern you might have is on a serious faceplant type fall where you're going to be ejected out no matter what. The hope is that coming out of your bindings will not damage your feet.

Have you considered calling Hyperlite to see if you can get replacement parts for your bindings?

yea, it's not a replacement part thing they broke off. I have reattatched them using various methods and they still break off. It's really annoying. When it first happened Hyperlite to take it back to the store I bought them at, but it was too late according to the store. Now that store is bankrupt.

So you think if my feet cannot come out and I have a hard face plant type fall I could mess up my feet? Like pull a joint out or something?

They should warranty it. Corey may jump in and give you the details as to what you should do.

some people want to come out in a fall. my uncle always goes with us, and he has a pair of size 13 bindings when he should wear a 10, he doesnt jump or anything, but in a fall, he wants to come all the way out.

personally, even on a face plant, i want to stay in, ive never came out of my shanes,

it depends on what you want
