My work setup

for those who care, this is my work setup. sorry for the shotty pic. my office is so small, I couldnt take a wide enough picture so I had to make a quasi-panorama shot.

Avid MediaComposer Adrenaline (over my tv monitor/scope)
Dual 2.0 G5 with 4 megs of ram, roughly 600 gigs of internal storage (mostly for graphics and music)
Sony DSR-1800 dvcam deck
Sony UVW-1800 beta deck
Mackie 1642-VLZ Pro mixer
Aphex Compellor
2 21-inch computer monitors
Sony Trinitron 22-in scope
8 avid 10,000rpm 73gb Hardrives (next to my G5tower)
Videotek TV signal monitor
Edirol Speakers
several fans and trash

the monitors look small, but they are 21-inchers

Weren't you giving me a hard time last year for being a Mac guy? :-)

What's with the UVW, are you still doing much BetaSP work? I thought that format was dead (I only see a couple of SP tapes on your desk)

Why waste your money on Avid drives for DV / SP or does the Adrenaline require it?

I'd say about 100 grand tied up there? Nice!

Avid doesnt require it. the drives cost alittle more than normal, but if one goes bad, i'll have a new one in hours. they will hand deliver a new one. thats priceless.

There is alot of BetaSP still out there. you would be surprised how many major network camera guys still swear buy it. I really only use it to get old stock footage. All my commercial are sent to me on BetaSP as well.

for the record, I still hate mac!

toolfan, im looking to get a mixer and probably protools, how do u hook it up to the g5

my mixer runs to my Adrenaline box, which in turn runs to my G5 via firewire.
