I think it looks way different from the murray. Only similarity I see is they are both wide. If anything id say it looks more like a cwb faction but without the huge spine from the bottom. Or a wider more forgiving version of the pulse from but looks like it has cuped rails and has a nose and tail that looks similar to a cwb marius. Still stoked to see this board in person. I was just saying similar to the murray because in the one picture it looks like the top of the board is elevated like murrays just not as high. but yeah definitly not the same.

that would be nice if it had canted foot beds. Just standing on the murray on the carpet feels phenominal. The tribute seems slightly canted to me too.

the board wasn't elevated like Murrays when I saw it last week, and those binders are just the Hyperlite Atlas'. As of two weeks ago, the graphics are just prototype graphics as well, things will change!!

It still is going to be an abrupt continuous rocker. Probably more like 3DS/Pulse on roids. PVC core like the sub VI wrapped in fiberglass. With cabon strips in the top sheet to add strength and pop. 9 degree angled fins instead of the 6degree on Pulse. Will be pricey with that core. Monarch price or more. Shops can place there order today, start shipping on May 7th. Debut slated for May 15th.

Reminds me of a thick covin with more texture on the bottom.

It should since the Chad Sharpe's Covin is a thinner version of Chad Sharpe's 3DS with no texture on the bottom. Which is the shape and rocker Rusty rode with Hyperlite and J-star. Expect the Marek to be a legit 146 though. Ronix boards run a little smaller. Compare a 143 Pulse with a 143 Covin. 143 Pulse is even bigger than a 146 One. Good news for us fat guys. Not meant to rag on Ronix. They just measure the boards different. Both good quality.

ronix measures their boards using the rocker line, while hyperlite measures just straight tip to tail not taking the rocker line inot account. what this means is that if you were 2 flatten both boards, meaning they would have no rocker, the ronix would still measure the same length where as the hyperlite would be longer.

what rick is talking about is not the actual length but the overall surface area

From that pic it looks like a mix between a new murray (footbed at least it LOOKS canted, may not be) and the ibex (tip/tail). but this excludes the bottom because it looks like it has channels all the way down. question...is this really gonna be another (slightly diff) version of the pulse/3ds/sub 6?

I've heard Nick Davies (the cable rider) is going to get his own pro model also. Anybody knows something? There was rumors about this as far back as February. Nick is (was) riding Pulse (3ds) and his presumptive pro-model was expected a bit wider, but still two fin and abrupt continuous rocker design. Or maybe (which IMHO would be better) slight 3-stage, progressive rocker. This Marek board matches pretty much the description. Maybe Hyperlite just decided to target the board not as a personal pro model but as a high-class team model ridden by many pros. No matter what this board would be a definite market hit. One of the best boards for cable. I want to ride this baby too.

Looks like the board is somewhat "flexy"(as shown in the vid)... possibly might bring up some opinions similar to the LF Lyman being a sort of "hybrid" ;). Also it is ironic that both boards are designed for PUNISHMENT. always love to hear about and see new gear!

Whose Idea Was It to try to put rusty on the lightest board? I'm assuming it will break, or maybe that's why its so thick. I bet he broke a lot during the testing.

That board looks awesome, are they all shaped/finished by hand after pressing like that or just prototypes?

I've seen it's guts after Rusty killed one a couple weekends ago. It's tough, but Rusty is just a maniac. Don't even get me on seeing an X-Star do things that I thought only a DD Slalom boat would do with him behind the wheel. He's the man, I can only assume the board will be comparable.

Ok I just have to say this in hopes that one day I will finally find someone who agrees with me. I can appreciate that rusty is a good rider, hes got all the tricks, and for a guy of his size it has to add even more difficulty to throw something like a 10, but for me, watching him ride is painful. He really does seem like a cool guy, and I'm not saying he's the worst rider to ever set foot on a wakeboard, I guess i just don't see what everyone else does.

The fact that you are on a quest to have your opinion validated should tell something. It is a subjective sport so style will vary in different people's eyes.

Trevor...let it go. Yeah, he's probably not on the top of anybody's "style" list (speaking from experience, when you're 6+' 200+ lbs., it's difficult to make your riding look as good as the midgets that populate this sport), but most people still love to watch the guy ride because he's so unique. He's the guy you go to when you want to see someone charge double-ups, boost massive glides, and land anything and everything in the book either blind or wrapped like it's nothing.

Man, a legit 146 cm board. I may have to try that out. My 143 Covin in barely over 140.

Wish it was going to be shipped with the .8 P's and not the 1's. Finally did the .7 a's on the Pulse/3ds this year after putting the 1.1 daggers on it for years.
