Hello, I am looking to buy my husband a wakeskate for christmas. Unfortunetly, I do not know anything about them. Can someone tell me which one would be perfect for him? I would say he is an intermediate to advanced rider. Not sure if it goes by weight like wakeboards so he is 6'1" and weighs 160 pounds.

Thank you in advance for your help!!

How much are you looking to spend?

I would say no more than around $200 to $300

either a 41 or 42 inch board. 41 would make it easier to spin and flip around the board while the 42 will give him more surface area for his feet while catching the board.

the LF Hampson(41) and Reed (42) Impulses are great wood concaves that you should be able to find at local shops and online on sale. most 08 skates dont come out til january or later

great! Thank you for your help. He seems to be partial to hyperlite and Ronix. Got any thoughts on those wakeskates?

hyperlyte makes really big boards. 107cm (42.5") at the smallest. they make decent composite boards but are geared more for wake to wake wakeboard style riding.

the new ronix zariel skate looks great. im not sure when they are coming out though. i wouldnt buy a bilevel without trying one first though if he has never ridden a bilevel. they are not for everyone.

saying that he is a ronix and hyperlyte guy is close minded. they make great wakeboards but there are so many WAKESKATE companies as well he can look at like sattelyte and oak. dont limit your self because of the brand name. it means nothing.

Go with an LF Impulse 41 or 42 like stated, or the Hyperlite Catalyst 107 or 112. If he has any skateboarding experience he will appreciate the Impulse being asymetrical.

also check out...OAK, Levelthirtn, integrity, omen, sattelyte they all make good skates. does he prefer wood or composite? i'd start there.

the new lf sst is sick as well...

if he is an intermediate to advanced rider then he should have some kind of preference. wakeskates look pretty similar but they all ride different. i know as soon as i switched to wood decks i couldnt ever go back

Omen no longer exists, however if you can find a revolt around, buy it up they rule. I would highly recommend an OAK, amazing decks, great prices. I ride Integrity myself, but they are not wood and are extremely light, a lot of people think they are hard to get used to. Seriously go with an Oak, hyperlite makes terrible skates, excluding the catalyst i suppose.

I ride an Integrity team deck, love it; but my only gripe with it is that it is too light.

But the deck is bomb proof and will thus last basically forever.
