robin said this in his interview:

quote:

WW: Do you have any long-term goals for your riding?
RF: I hope to not injure myself badly so I can just keep riding for years and my goal is to be the first person to land a heelside 1080.

were the 1080s parks and mark kenney landed toeside? i've seen the photo sequence of parks 1080 and i thought i remembered it as being hs?

Parks' was toeside. I'm not too sure on Mark's becuase I've never seen any of his sequences...you'd think a mag would be fighting over a sequence like that...

As far as I know, none of Mark's 1080's were ever caught on film. Parks' 1080 was only caught with still photography and I think it was black and white and toeside.

Look for something very exciting from WakeWorld in relation to this topic in about two weeks.

well well well - that was a mysterious post dave! :-)

i wondered why i remembered the photo sequence in the wrong direction for parks to be doing it ts. thats crazy that not only did he land it but landed it switch!

is there a reason for this? i've been told there are some tricks (like his hs front), that he only does switch, but he obviously does regular ts spins. does he feel more comfortable switch ts for some reason?

you can see the parks sequence as an animated gif here:

Robin did? I knew he threw a 900 at TSR, but whoa, he didn't tell me that... he's kinda a hard guy to get talkin, pretty chill tho. Well congrats Robin!

yeah mark kenny was throwing 1080's 2 years ago, like everyone says this guy was the next huge thing in wakeboarding.
he did have 2 videos of him throwing a 1080 but his mum has both the tapes and aparently doesnt really show anyone that isnt close to the family.
i cant understand why, but he was the first.

Just an observation.. but spinning terms, isn't it fs/bs in addition to or not even including ts/hs?

Also, I heard that Chris Law was throw'n 1080 whily bird's on the trampoline... hmmm... pretty crazy stuff.

If I'm understanding your question, with a 1080 it's pretty much assumed that it's frontside because backside would be gnar buckets (especially if it were toeside). THe fartherst anyone has spun backside would be a 720, heelside...randy harris can do toeside backside 540's, which is crazy.

To answer your question Bess... It can be TS FS or HS BS or visa versa. I do my Heel side 360's with a front side rotataion. My friend does his Heelside 3's with a Back Side rotation.

(we are both spinning the same way since I am regular and he is goofy, but that's beside the point)

Just so that you know, Parks 1080 was switch toeside.

Wow, Parks is in a lot better shape in that gif! He almost looks like a little (or should I say big?) Shapiro...all clean cut and in shape.

I know! I love his reaction afterward! How long ago did he do that? That board looks older...

Bess- He's riding the FM Quest (If I remember rightly).I think he was shocked because it was his first try at it, and he stuck it.
I'd like to see a video of Rodin's 1080 on the cable.

Kristian, I don't know if u caught the switched episode with Dallas, but they showed some of Robin's riding at the cable, he didn't pull a 10 but it'll give u a really good idea of his style and how big he goes if u can get a hold of a copy of it.
