I am currently on a 06 134 Watson. Looking for a new board for next season. I am between the new Watson but a 138. I am 5'8 and 145 lb. Do you think thats too big? Also can someone compare an axis to a Shane to a Watson. What's the different characteristics. I currently ride fin-less and like it. What would you recommend?

I'm riding the 08 Marius. Very nice ride; lots of pop, soft landings, and its nice and loose when I want it to be.

I have ridden the watson the axis and the shane. I didn't like the shane because I kept slipping out on tricks like ts 3s, frontrolls, and bs 1s. It was probably just me though. I rode the watson 134 for a long time and loved it without the fins too. I also rode the axis for about 4 months and was pretty hooked on it until I tried my new board the Marius. The axis is a sick board though. It is more simalar to the ps3 if you have ever given that a ride. It is faster than the watson, but not as fast as the shane. It lands pretty smooth but not quite as smooth as the watson or the shane. I did like the way that it edged though. It was loose when you are not on an edge and ripped when you cut towards the wake. It released off of the wake very well too.

As far as the 138 being to big for you. I don't think so at all. It will only be more stable and help you to get more pop and land softer. You can ride the 134 also but your right about at the weight limit for that board. I am about 5'9" and 145 too and I rode the 134 watson and loved it though. I still do ride a 134 but the marius has a lot more surface area than the watson did so it sort of makes up for it.

Nice Poser!! You seen the light and switched to the Marius, I like it!! The 08 Marius is by far my fav board I have ever rode!! Pops, and lands like the 06/07 but faster and a little looser. I love it.

poser!! Ha lets not start that non sence again. Yeah I had an absolute platty and broke it, CWB told me that I could pick any 08 board that I wanted and after seeing that the marius had a great following and landed very soft I figured I would give it a try, now I am hooked. The thing cruises like a freakin caddy, I love it.

hahaha I don't know what you are talking about Ohio. I got a 08 a few months ago. You can ride it soon. I'd say in about 2 weeks!

you have to demo a slingshot before u buy anything. i have friends that hate themselves for making that mistake last season.

ren,
the '08 watson is you. the more i look at it, it seems very malcom "X" inspired. LOL

seriously, the axis might be a little grippy with 4 molded fins on each end, especially since you have been riding the watson so well finless.

i would wait until spring and demo everything you can including the marius, transcend, slingshot (maybe a good alternate board), the axis and the new lf press. a flexboard might would be a cool way to go since your watson is still in very good shape (no thanks to riley, LOL).

oh yeah, don't forget the ibex and the sub VI.

Alan!!! Yea that sounds like a plan. I think I'm gunna be like a sugar addict in a candy store on the demo days. I really want to try a slingshot or press. The Shane and Marius seem cool too. Watson is sick though. Sub VI, maybe if someone can spot me a couple hundred haha.

Im riding my 08 Ronix one and loving it.

im 140 pounds and i ride a 132cm board, granted i like smaller boards but the 132 goes up to a 160 pounds max weight, so you would be find and shed about 6 cm from riding the watson

I would probably go with lyman's new board.

If you are looking for something similar to the Watson try the Obrien Cartel. I think it is called something different for 08 but that board is the sh*t. Everything the Watson is but smoother and lighter. The only negative I can see is that it may land a bit harder.

Murray, Tribute, and def. the monarch are my new favorite. definatly demo these boards and you will love them. I have not ridden the sub 6, the b side, or new era but from what i've heard they are really good.

Brett I think I'll demo those and the Monarch. They all sound really sick. I think i will demo the one again and give that another chance too.

I was told the tribute is a lot like the 3DS,but a little looser and a lot more forgiving.
