Not sure if any of this stuff has been posted already, but I know I was anxious to see it, so I figured I'd post it.

It took long enough to find out what TFD stood for now we've got to figure out what 3DS means, lol.

Thanks a lot for posting the pictures. Some of the boards look all right but the bindings don't look that great.

all this wont make me like HL more than I did before... some graphics look nice... the whole binding line seems different(nothing really new but at least redesigned with new materials) all I can say is that I'm not impressed... seeing what Liquid force, Obrien and CWB came up with for 05, we should expect more than this from the "leading" brand of the wakeboard industry...

I got excited when I heard Hyperlite was coming out with a bunch of different materials for the bindings this year. I don't really see anything that would make me changover from my Nice PRS01s though.

I'll post judgement after I TRY them. They do look cool though. Looked like Parks was riding the new 140 at the X Games.

Maybe HL will use lighter materials finally.

Hey Joe,

How did you get the pics? I saw all of the stuff on Wed. in Seattle. The line is huge. 6 women's models this year. The skates and surfboards are sick as well. The binding are lighter than this year as well and the material is awesome. I am sure someone will post that it is the same as the L.F. and Obrien, but that is not the case.

Old     (magellan)      Join Date: Feb 2003       08-08-2004, 12:56 PM Reply
There is no reason for so many boards. Boards don't ride different enough to justify all the different styles...just confuses the buyers.
I like the Parks graphics. Murray boots look cool. Era's look like crap IMO.
Like lenny said, maybe in person the bindings are different...

"Boards don't ride different enough to justify all the different styles..."

You'd be surprised. Go ride a Parks, TFD, ERA, and Byerly all back to back. The differences are shocking.

yea bro. i can take two boards, jus look at them, and tell you that they are goin to ride differently and tell you exatcly why. no board out there will ride like a different one, aside from a couple knock offs here and there that i wont mention.

is the 3ds the new tdf??

cause if it is, finally they've made it the perfect size for me, rather than too big or too small!!!

3ds are old parks shapes... at least that's what it looks like... unless they put the graphics on old parks shape cuz the shape wasn't ready yet...

the new parks looks pretty cool but i've got the feeling that they'll be way harder to ride because of the full lenght hooked rails... those are definatly not for newbies... Parks fans that ride at a pretty low level will learn to hate this new deck...

hey kristian, what does TFD stand for? I still dont know. and KGB, i dont know what that stands for either. Someone said 'killer green bud' but i doubt gregg would think of something like that.

When does these boards and bindings come out and where can u get them?

I heard that TFD stands for Tech F**king Deck but I cannot be totally sure...
KGB was organisation acting like the CIA for the soviets during the cold war... don't know for sure what it stands for but must not be in english...

but i heard when gregg invented the trick KGB stood for something besideds the soviet intelligence agency.

does anyone know what the deal with the Biolite2 thing is? is it a new type of Biolite foam or are they just throwin out another gimmick?
Old     (west)      Join Date: Apr 2002       08-10-2004, 3:06 AM Reply
Yeah, I think the 3DS is taking place of the highback. That's the only binding I like. I'm not impressed this year either. Too "gothic" looking. Some ppl say the brown is "pimp" but not me. You know how it is though. People will look at the products at first and be like< "man that is so friggin ugly" and then before you know they start hearing people talk about how "pimp" it is and change their mind.haha But yeah, I would have to see them all in person and ride some before REALLY commenting.
Old     (tantrum20)      Join Date: Nov 2001       08-10-2004, 3:35 AM Reply
J-Rod... what I mean is that I'm not impressed cuz there's nothing new except the parks and roam... and a redesigned binding line that is not pushing it in any way... the quality of the scan don't do s**t... I don't judge a board by its graphics... even though I said some of the graphics looked cool...

I think the new TFD and Premier have not yet been scaned...

the 3DS is the TFD. Harf was riding it during the XGames. He was also riding the 3DS bindings, which replace the Highbacks.
The Premier graphics have already been released. Look at wake.com.au in the forums. The graphics are pretty lame IMO.

Can't really tell too much from these pics, but the Era looks wider and the channels look a little differant. And I'm pretty sure the 3DS is Sharpes new board/binding combo. They do look similar to last years Parks board but not the same. I'd take a wild guess and say these have a more continous rocker to start with. (Only guess work here, the pics are a little grainy)

I guess we wont know about the bindings till someone actually sees them in person and can handle them. From the pics it looks like the overlay rubber is still going to rip. Guess only time will tell. I was able to see some of the 05 liquid force line the other day and compared the weight of the bindings to the HL 04 line. HUGE differance. LF was much lighter all around. I also it all depends on what fits your foot the best. For me, it was the 05 LF alpha. I did notice however, the the LF alphas my dealer had in stock Varied in size from pair to pair. There must be some really poor quality control at the LF plant. It had to try on 6 (no I am not exagerating) left boots in order to find one that did not have an overly freakishly large toe opening, area. It as obviously a production flaw on left ones. All the rights were correct. Also, while searching for a normal left boot, There were 2 boots out of the 6 that had side stitching that did not catch the nylon material and the nylon was comming off the boot. I was discouraged at that point but searched thru their entire 05 shipment to make a pair work. And finally did.

The Premier is on the same brochure, but I didn't scan it because it's already been posted.

I was planning to post MUCH higher quality pictures, but the KB and size limits on uploads were really giving me headaches, so I said F-it and reduced the size and quality so low that I KNEW I wouldn't have any more problems.

Jonathan, I could tell you where I got them, but then I'd have to kill you!

Old     (obrienride16)      Join Date: Jul 2001       08-11-2004, 3:18 PM Reply
for those of you who think that hyperlite is just changing graphics on boards and colors on bindings i would rethink your statements. hyperlite is pushing this sport further than anyone. six boards have changed. the new bindings have rubber that is indestructable and lighter materials. the new state board is unreal. it is probably the most inovative idea in a long time. it is an asymmetrical board, not tip to tail but heel to toe. the toe side edge is different than the heel side to give you more control on toe side cuts. and dont forget about the roam. that board will change the way we will ride any board. i might be mistaken but i dont see any other company doing this. let me know if i am wrong. just givin a heads up.

The State was designed by Mike Ferraro. Here's a really bad pic of it. I didn't get a bottom pic.

Old     (wakeworld)      Join Date: Jan 1997       08-11-2004, 3:54 PM Reply
And here are some not-so-good shots of the Era, but you can see the little divits out of the top by the tip and tail. You can also see the ridges that runs the entire length of the board along the bottom.

correct me if i'm wrong, the bottom design of the "new" era looks pretty damn close to the old badass design.

coincidentally, hype used to press badass boards.

I'm all for Hyperlite, but is a board such as the State really necessary? Do people have that hard of a time on their toeside that it’s necessary to have a board ride differently heel to toe? It just seems people need to spend time learning proper technique, than to have a crutch helping them along. Maybe I'm missing the point here.

Hey guys, the State comes in 130,135,140,145 and the girls ones which are the Eden series comes in 125 and 130cm. Any other questions?

What's up David Williams?

Leo,

What are you referring too? The byerly wakeskate has some craziness going on, but the wakeboard is the same except for the graphic being different.

Plus my friend pointed out it looks like there are 2 more holes(a la 4 track) placed in the channel. Now that I look at closer I see what leo is saying. Looks like a spoiler you would put on a car. I had to get it in the light to notice it

the new era is nothing like the badass. as for the state why not make a board that is easier to cut on. the point is to have fun and if that helps im all for it. it rides really good (thats what lenny says)

Old     (magellan)      Join Date: Feb 2003       08-11-2004, 9:57 PM Reply
Here's my take on all of this, not like you guys care.
The State board is ranking up there with the new Byerly in the gimmick catagory. If it helps you ride toeside, why don't all the 05 Hyperlite's have it then?
Like Shawn said, I don't need a crutch to help me ride toeside. Maybe Danny should start riding it so he can get his toe 9's 100% instead of 95%.
Body position is the key to toeside. Not gimmicks.
Old     (mishaplr)      Join Date: Apr 2002       08-11-2004, 11:08 PM Reply
Your probably right "YOU" don't need the help, but you are not the majority of the wakeboarders out there. The board rides really nice and as far as gimmicks go, what are you talking about. I know you haven't ridden it yet, so what are you talking about. Have you ridden a Byerly. So if you ride the board and say you hate it and then some guy comes along and says he loves it because it helps him with his toeside jumps are you going to say he is lying. Wouldn't everyone on here like a board that would help there riding. If you don't lets go out and buy a door from Home Depot and put some bindings on it to make it as difficult as possible.
Sorry, I will get off the soap box for a bit.

When I was at my local board shop they told me the "divits" were like the cut outs on the Byerly only they don't slow the board down. no sure if it's true, but this is what I was told.

this thread is too much...

"hyperlite is pushing this sport further than anyone. six boards have changed. the new bindings have rubber that is indestructable and lighter materials."
how does changing the tip/tail, step down rails, and graphics of six boards and using (supposedly) indestructible rubber push the sport further than anyone?

"the new state board is unreal. it is probably the most inovative idea in a long time. it is an asymmetrical board, not tip to tail but heel to toe. the toe side edge is different than the heel side to give you more control on toe side cuts."
how is that innovative? didnt liberation do this as recently as a year or two ago? i still have yet to see ANY of them on the water.

"and dont forget about the roam. that board will change the way we will ride any board."
well i gotta hand it to hyperlite's marketing department- they certainly did a good job brainwashing this 18 year old boardshop employee. props HL....hah
