95 maristar 200 vrs

I saw a 95 maristar 200 vrs for sale in my price range of 15-17k and I was wondering if it had potential for kicking a nice wake. I heard that V-Drive boats were good for wakeboarding and that the maristar 200 vrs had lots of storage space for a ballast system, so I am guessing it could make a nice wake, but I wanted to hear what you guys thought because I don`t know much about boats.

im interested too. my local shop has one that i could easily get into. its a bit wider and shorter than most towboats you hear about but the xtar is wide too. would like to hear from anyone who's sacked it out

i own a 95 200vrs. i have tower i built and i also installed a semi auto 1400 lb ballast in it. with the ballast full and 3 or 4 people in boat it will rival many new v-drives. i am intermediate rider that am 6'1 and i can pull back rolls 3's and tantrums when ballast is full and only wife in boat. i call the boat my working mans x10. the hull is very similar to the x10. i did install 14X16 4 blade acme to help it out of the hole when weighted down. wonderful boat for entertaining friends and family. huge storage area. any further questions would be pleased to help. have used boat for 3 seasons 50-70hrs a season and only replaced raw water pump(leaking) and steering cable. mastercraft makes a quality product.

I've always wondered why more people didn't look at the older Maristars as potential wake boats, due to their reasonable pricing and being V-Drive. We have a Maristar 225 VRS, very similar but longer. We run about 650 pounds of ballast (water/lead) always, and then try to load the boat with people for the best wake. The other day with 10 in the boat, the wake was gorgeous. I haven't ridden behind a ton of boats, but some of the more experienced riders in our crew agreed that it was right up there with the newer boats on our lake. With a just a couple people in the boat, our crew can throw back rolls and 3's easily. When we really load it down, I'd say about anything is possible. My opinion is that the boat you are looking at, with weight added, would throw a very nice wake.
