i hooked up a sub and amp today but the amp appears that it is not getting any power. there are neons on the inside which are not lighting which is how i know there is no power. its a power acoustik 820 watts and i have a 4gauge power wire goin to a distribution block which comes out as a 10gauge wir could that be the problem? thanks.

where did you ground the amp to, and does your head unit have a remote wire (tells the amp to turn on and off) if so is it hooked up? i just put a system in my boat this weekend and everything is grounded to the negative terminal on the battery (the grounding spot for the whole boat)

Like Greg said, you should run the ground wire off the Negative side of the battery terminal, and yes the xmd1 has a remote wire that you need to run to the amp.

if you already have another amp in your boat then you can just run the remote turn on wire to the remote connection on the other amp, that is what i did and it worked great!
