I am going to service my 2000 BU myself this year.

What parts are commonly replaced? Where should I buy the parts?

impeller
engine oil & filter
tranny oil & filter (is there a filter?)
fuel filter
cap & rotor
plugs
belts
hoses

tighten engine bolts (I remember an issue here).

Anything else?

Skidim for the impeller. Auto parts store for everything else. I use Mobil 1 and a Mobil 1 filter. I use Mobil 1 synthetic tranny fluid in the trans. There is a round screen in the trans that you should flush with gas or some solvent.

Or, you could probably give Skidim a call, give them your engine model, and have them bunch all that up into one pkg and see if they'll give you a discount for such a large purchase. Tell them your hours and they'll let you know what likely needs doing, too...those guys are a gold mine.

has anyone actually cleaned out the tranny screen? It can be hard to get too from what I heard and can see, and once you take off the cover to access it, it usually will leak.(so I've heard) asked my old dealer if they do it and they said no, even though the manu. recomends it.

call Skidim, those guys are great.
