...and cannot tell you how excited I am for it to show up on Thursday.

I was going to upgrade from my POS entry-level 75-300mm to a mid-grade 70-300mm lens... until I searched the crap out of wakeworld and read every damn review and looked at every photo on amazon.com... and I know it's the photographer that makes a great photo, not the lens... but in the long run it seems the $350 difference to the L lens will be well worth it.

Now... to explain why I NEEDED this to the significant other...

LOL... I know where you are... I just got my 40D today and I have a LOT to learn... The Wife is supportive, and I told her it was to get better pics of the baby (7 1/2 months old)... I have read all about that same lens and that will be another purchase down the road.... Let us know how you explained it....

You will love it, post up some shots when you get it. Did you get the IS? My favorite lens by far.

Some of the world's greatest photos are technically very sharp. Why take a great photo and have it look sharp too? When you get that once is a lifetime shot you don't want to wish you had a better lens onboard.

She took it a lot better than I though she would. Will be posting shots soon. And yes, I did get the IS version.

Rich, exactly how I justified it...

Had a chance to really test out the new lens in Portland this past weekend for PDXwake.com's WakeUp event... Mike Ennen was the special guest, which made for a fun learning experience... I still have a lot to learn, but did get a few good ones.
