That's a cool scene - perfect for one of those "different moods of the seasons" type things if you could shoot it during the different times of the year.

Great shot of your girl. What lens and what PS work did you do if any ?

Thanks Walt! I really take that as a compliment - I dig just about everything I see you post here. The lens was a 24-70 f2.8L USM. I used Aperture to process the RAW file for exposure white balance and levels. In Photoshop, I just did a simple "glow" effect by adding a duplicate layer with 15% gausian blur at 20% opacity, then masked it and blocked out her eyes, lips and hair to keep them sharp. I used Noiseware Professional to clean up the noise - I believe I shot this at ISO 1000 but I'm too lazy to look at the EXIF to be sure. ;-) I also touched up the shadows on her face with the lasso tool/curves.

I'm still new to all of this so I'm not able to make many complex tweaks to my shots yet. Mostly, I just bump around in the dark and read tutorials online.

Thanks Walt and Rich. I still think Kirk's shot above takes it. Each time I look at it, I find something else I like - the moss on the roof, the distinct snowline, etc. Really nice landscape.

Wow! I thought I was a newbie, but after reading what you've done I don't even think I qualify as a newbie. Is there such a thing as a pre-newbie?
