What weight problem are you talking about? I have an 06 and haven't seen anything of this.

Is he talking about the ballast system? Most opinions are that the stock system is far from adequate.

Personally not thinking the stock ballast setup isn't enough isn't really a 'problem', more of an opinion...

Totally agree just trying to figure out what Brandon is talking about. I can't really think of anything else.

The X2 is an amazing boat. Perfect wake. Killer for surfing too. That's my favorite boat for that size category.

Have to credit where credit is due. I test drove the X2 3 weeks ago and was really impressed. The wake was little small with stock ballast, but man that boat felt good especailly with the 350hp in it. Would like to have one.

Yeah, I was talking about the wake! I've read that 2 get a big wake you have to really add alot of weight. Is this just bs or are you X2 owners having to add alot of ballast to really get all of the potential?

I have an 06 X2. The wake is not large enough with the factory ballast. It is good and better riding than it looks. I plumbed in 2 450lb locker sacs and it got much much better. It is all integrated with the factory pumps and functions as OEM. I want to add a few bricks of lead to the front but all and all it is very good. 650 lbs is just not enough.

The good thing about that boat is the stock ballast is in the floor and the lockers on both sides of the engine are huge. There is plenty of room for extra sacs and storage. The problem Brandon was refering to was that when that boat first came out, a lot of people were expecting a X1 size(type) of wake and it was not there. It took a while for everyone to dial it in....

B Nall-
why don't you ask your local x-2 guru... he knows everything about wakeboard boats! maybe he can even print you out a graph or something illustrating your question

The wake is definitely not big enough with factory ballast.

I've been running 550s on each side of the motor, filling the center sac up completely (350#?) and then adding a 600# sac in the walkway. I usually fill the rear tanks 1/2 to 3/4 depending on the number of people in the boat.

Here's the thing with the new X2: the wake will not look very big at all even with this weighthing config. I came from a '02 XStar with 2250# in it and the wake is maybe 1/2 the size on the new boat.

The key on this wake is the use proper edging techniques through the top of the wake. If you back of your edge early you won't get any pop. You really have to work on this wake to get good pop as opposed to a 210 or X1 where you can take a lazy cut and still get bucked. This boat demands proper form.

The interesting thing my crew has found is that the wake at 80' is perfect. I usually rode at 70' (24.2mph) on my X1 but I've been riding at 80' (23.7mph) on the new X2. You can charge the wake at that length, get great pop but it's much easier to clear the wake then you'd think.

Good luck!

yeah, we need a month of rain to get us back to normal...some sections you can ride but not worth it now

im loving my wake behind the x2. im running full stock ballast plus 375 extra in each rear compartment, the bow integrated sac under the seats in the bow and a 600 lb sac in the walkway which probably only holds 400 or so due to walkway restricting. this is what i run with just a driver and spotter. if there are 6 or more people on the boat i usually do not use the walkway sac.

if there is one important thing about the weighting of this boat it is having enough weight upfront. if u think u have enough weight upfront you probably need more. without it the wake will not grow with just weight in the rear.

Zach am still confused as to why you sold your other boat....? All this talk about edging and extra sacs. Why did you buy a new boat? Your old X-star looked great. And can even run in the shallow water out there.

You guys with extra ballast, what props are you running. Billy what sacs are you using in the rear compartments?
