Few More Pounds for Ballast

I made these up from lead shot that I found for $1 a pound to add to my 850 pound ballast system in my '06 Sanger V210. These way 25 pounds each. I will also be running a FlyHigh side sac in the walk thru, (250 pound), for a total of roughly 1400 pounds to start. It's not alot of weight but that is the beauty of narrower beamed hulls. I'll get some pics of the wake this coming weekend.

Those are filled with Lead Shot and they only weight 25 lbs a piece? I'd expect them to be 4 times that weight.

If I recall correctly, solid lead weights about 1.4lbs per Cubic Inch.

I watched them weigh it on the scale. 250 pounds of lead shot that I put into 10 containers = 25 pounds each. Consider that the shot is ball shaped. If you poured solid lead into the same container it would weigh more than the lead shot, but I doubt it would be four times more. Anyway, trust me it's lead shot and they're 25 pounds each, plus whatever the abs pipe and caps weigh.

Actually pure lead is 0.41666 lbs per Cubic Inch.. or a cubic foot of lead is 720lbs--break that down 12"x12"x1/16" = 1 lb...

Where did you score the lead shot? I went the ghetto route and had to settle for scrap lead from a shooting range. It's 'dirty' so won't be as dense per cubic inch as shot, but the price was right (FREE).

I put mine in bank coin bags so they conform to whereever I want them and have no pressure points. I'm in the process of getting some covers made to pretty them up a little.

Chris, I found the fitting I need on Flow-Rite's site. It's listed in the marine section, 3/4 fittings. It's down at the bottom. They call it a 3/4 female pipe thread to quick-lock. My wife says the rocking horse is a few years old but if we see another one, it's got your name on it! Thanks so much again for all the help. Joe, I scored the lead shot at a local supply yard, there's more too but it would prolly be a fortune to ship. :-(
