sorry if this has been talked about already...

what are good exercises to do to prevent hurting your knees on hard landings?

There have been several discussions… Try searching on “knee”

Here are some links:

This link talks about stance and injury:

This link, while not wakeboard specific, deals with ACL injury prevention.

light leg extensions, leg curls, squats. But the best thing you can do is to stretch! Increase your flexibility. Hard landings could be a technique issue too.

i know i could use more technique

i can get pretty high, but i find myself scared to go all out jumping because im scared of landing in the flats. i know all boarder land in the flats... so i shouldnt be scared of it. i just thought the first step is to strengthen my knee a little bit before i start boarding this summer.

that stance stuff is interesting. im gonna try moving my boots in a tad this summer and see how it goes. they arent right to the outside, but they are close. my board is a 138cm and i ride a little bit duck-footed too.

I found that wider was better as far as impact on the knees, for me anyway. Practice keeping the rope tight out into the flats and land on your edge. The impact comes when you flatten out and try to land the board flat. Try landing on edge.
