Ive been riding off and on about 2 years now. I am just getting well rounded riding switch and doing 180s. I started with an old Obrien Custom 142, then bought a Hyperlite Motive. I usually ride the Obrien with new Hyperlite Atlas bindings. The motive just seemed sluggish. I wish the obrien had molded side fins though.

I was thinking about a Watson, but having second thoughts. I would like to go as cheap as possible, but not a huge concern.

What you guys suggest?

Ive been anti cwb forever cuz i thought their bindings were ugly and there graphics were never my favorite but I rode a cwb kink at a wakeboard school and I thought it was one of the best feeling three stage boards ive ridden and its only $280. If you don't like sluggish boards the liquid force trip is amazingly fast and cheap too

Defineatly go for the watson. If you take out the center fin it is perfect. Has great pop, soft landings, loose but not too loose, I love mine and it has worked great.

I ride the Watson finless and it feels sooo nice but I'm not that good of a rider.

I heard the Shane makes people better riders. Look at Joe, he was only able to jump one wake now w/ the Shane he can jump two; now that's impressive. J/K Thanks again Joe.

The Watson is an awesome board, with fins it's solid as a rock, without them it's nice and loose. Great pop, and it's no slug either.

GET THE LYMAN !

you obviously want a faster board and the watsons a little on the slow side

im thinking about a LF fish now...cheap, sounds fun..too many boards to choose from

you want something thats loose or sticky?

You want it to sit deep in the water or high?

You want massive verticle buck from a 3 stage or a very predictable softer landing continuous rocker?

Are you a laid back rider or super aggressive?

I think i would like it loose, and pop similar to a 3 stage. Im a laid back rider. What difference does it make if it sits deeper in the water?

i'm gonna go ahead and tell you to get the O'Brien Natural or the O'Brien Player. both boards are sick, and are perfect for taking your level of riding up to the next level! plus they are very reasonably priced. they are loose when you want them to be, fast when you put it on edge, and have an awesome amount of pop.

i've owned/ridden a number of different boards in the last year: 08 Lyman, 07 Shane, 07 Ronix One, 07 Ronix Coven, 06 Murray, 07 3DS, 07 Legend, 07 Recoil, 08 Response, 07 Natural, 07 Player. the NATURAL and PLAYER are definitely my favorites! they will fit any style of riding...whether you like to charge the wake and take it out to the flats, or are more easy going and want that vertical air.

^^^^^^
I forgot to mention that both the Player and Natural have 8 molded in fins.

The '07 LF Witness can be gotten for around $200 online and consistently gets good reviews from riders.

I would try the GB Legend. So much more forgiving than the old Harris models. It has great pop and without the unpredictibility with the old model. Landings are soft. It tracks very will but will realease when you want it to. The Ricky G is also a sick board! Just my $.02

My biggest recommendation is to find a shot that will let you demo a couple, that is the best way to avoid buying a board that you don't like. There are so many choices out there and everybody's style is different. You are the only one who knows exactly what you will like!

shane - i should have put "owned and/or ridden". the Lyman, One, and Coven were all boards that i got to demo for a few days a piece...so i got some good riding on them, but didn't like them enough to buy. the Murray is my buddy's board.

weird...i ride the shane and was wanting to try the natural. my friend who rides the natural and swears by it says i probably won't like it.

joe - i think you'd like it. i rode the Shane 5 days a week for a month and a half...i loved the board. i ended breaking the thing, and my shop was out of them. so i went and picked up Natural (because my friend swore by it). after 1 set on the Natty i was hooked! if you're friend is nice enough to let you try it out, i would definitely give it a shot. i will say that the Shane would be my next choice behind the Player and Natural.

Dude, I would give the WATSON 142 a try that board is AMAZING. I think it would be perfect for you; it is super light and super predictable

thanks for the suggestions guys..i may check into an obrien natural later on, or go ahead and shed the cash for a watson.

i just picked up a new 06 LF fish on ebay for the low..i think it will be fun to mess with for a while. what do think of the fish?

sorry to hijack but does anyone know how the natural rides compared to the 08 murray?

if your thinking about watson, id go for the substance......its the board watson rode before his new pro model, and you can get it for like a hundred bucks if you look hard enough......
i love it cuz the molded fins arnt too deep, so it doesnt hold that much when your just riding, but when you edge and land, it has alot of hold.
