I'd take the Moomba! Newer, less hours, more HP. The Malibu does look clean and has a T/A trailer though!

I would take the Sunsetter over the outback. The only thing the Outback has is less hours and newer. The sunsetter will make a better wake, it has a wedge so you won't need as much ballast, it has tower speakers, better stereo, dual batteries, tandem trailer, etc... The moomba looks really stripped. It looks like it only has a tower, board racks and bimini. I had a 2000 Moomba and the vinyl they used back then sucked balls. I bet the Malibu feels more plush even though it has 3 times the hours. The Malibu is also a one owner boat and it is hard to judge but looks in great shape. If the Malibu looks to have been taken care of and he has service records I would go that route. Also HP isn't that big of a deal in my opinion. They are both carb motors it looks like. Maybe you have to reprop the malibu sooner?

Both look like nice boats in the ads. I strongly favor newer boats though, given how maintenance heavy they can be. So I vote Moomba!

You should be able to get that Sunsetter for less than $14k. I'd take it over the Moomba too for all the reasons Brett stated, plus it's a deeper hull than the Moomba. The seat bases are taller, and it will handle weight & rough water better.

That's a nice boat too. Don't let 2k in price choose the boat for you. There is plenty of room to negotiate in this market. Asking price is just that... ASKING price. What someone can sell their boat for is an entirely different thing. Go look at and test them all and then negotiate a screaming deal on your favorite.

Oh yeah, that '94 DLX is the same hull as today's V-210 and DLX. ...same boat, in classic colors

I would probably go with the Sanger, but that is REALLY low hours for a '94. It probably sat unused for a few years, which can be bad but not always. Ask if it sat unused, and if so have the carbs and/or fuel tank have ever been cleaned out, if it was stored indoors (it looks like it was), if that's actual hours, etc. The Malibu has a deeper and slightly larger hull than the Sanger too, so if you ride in rough water and/or ride with a bigger crew it could be a better choice. I would demo both of them and offer about $10k for the one you like. Both are great boats, and this is a buyers' market.

It says the sanger doesn't come with the wetsounds but maybe you could negotiate with him to include them.

Probably be fine with eaither the malibu or the sanger. We had a sunsetter lx for 10 years and that boat was as solid as they come never and issue in its almost 700 hrs. Sold it for top dollar and I'm sure it is still stoking someone.

naych, if you can swing some extra dollars you can get a newer Sanger V210. They are very highly regarded on this site. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/boa/1252653123.html http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/boa/1251114776.html

Although I always lean toward the Bu's, I am going to say Moomba. Less hours will be nice. The only thing I dont like about the Outback is the low freeboard. You will be limited on how much ballast you can add but you will still be able to add enough to surf. I bet you have this boat for a couple years and upgrade to something a little larger. I think Malibu changed the hull in 1997 to what the V-Ride was using last year. It is the V23 hull if I remember correctly.
